Heyo, so, I'm trying to play this game. Steam launching doesn't work, I get that little black screen with grey letters (message box?) and then it crashes. So I switched to the ARMA II launcher, which launches ARMA, but then when I try to join a server it tells me that I can't join because I've deleted dayz_code, _wepaons, etc. I haven't deleted them though, they are in my @dayz-> addons folder. The mod shows up on the arma launcher as well. Any ideas? For now I'm just updating my dayz files. e: yeah, updating did nothing. It still tells me code, weapons, equip and vehicles are missing, so i cant play/edit this mod file and kicks me out. So sad. semicolonsrock fucked around with this message at May 14, 2012 around 03:25 |

I just updated to 1.5.7 and now when I try to join a server it gets stuck on a black screen that says "Loading" with no progress bar. Tried a bunch of different servers and got the same thing on each. Anyone have any suggestions? I verified steam files, copied over the mod files again, reset my computer and router.

With no way to escape a running zombie other than a) killing it or b) using one of the pathfinding bugs, I had no choice but to keep going until a timely server disconnect "saved" me. I suppose the lesson here is "do not have bad luck with spawns".

It's probably the servers getting hammered instead of a problem with your game. It usually takes me a few minutes to connect anyway

Wow, 1.5.7 really kinda sucks. There's too many zombies and looting towns is impossible unless you spend thirty minutes crawling through the entire place. If one randomly sees you then you're absolutely hosed because 30 zombies will come out of the surrounding hills the moment you fire. It seems like PKing is the only way to have fun and get supplies anymore.

Same experience. Saw a barn I wanted to enter but I counted at least 15 in the immediate area. That number of zombies could be okay, but they need to make them all slow zombies even when alerted, with maybe a couple special ones that go fast. The warp speed that they go at now is already hard enough to hit before they get a couple swipes in at me.

Not only that, but non-Makarov/revolver pistol ammo is rare as gently caress so if you have to kill more than a handful of them you're going to burn all your ammo in a matter of minutes, assuming you don't get raped by a mob of zig-zagging lightning fast zombies.

Yeah I'm all for poo poo tons of Zombies in games but it does seem they went way overboard this time. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't all have the same top speed faster than players so there was at least another option rather than killing them all.

Apparently exploiting game bugs is "realism" now.

Apparently it wasn't intentional, but Rocket says he wants to see how it plays out. But the mod definitely needed a change because before it was simply kill everyone the video game, oh and some zombies too. There really needs to be a reason for people to team up because before it was a bunch of people sitting there and sniping others just for the hell of it.

Not because this is a "hardcore game for hardcore people uuunnngggh" but because rocket is actually testing things to be sure of what works. It's still an alpha people.
