Bohemian Nights posted:Thank you! I'll check it out right away. I want to kill zombies with an A-10. I tried modifying the single player mission to put some aircraft in. Sadly the game kills you if you try to enter them. It allowed me to spawn with an M249 though.

KennyLoggins posted:How do you edit it cause all I can do is press 0 and it allows me to change the time but I want to spawn some other gear just to test it out. Get the cbpo extractor from here and extract the single player mission. Open the editor with Chenarus, save the empty mission in "User missions". Go to MyDocs\Arma 2(other profiles)\name\missions\missionname. Overwrite mission.sqm with the one from the extracted mission. Load up the mission editor with the mission you saved. You can modify the player spawn unit in the spawn forest in the south east corner of the map by switching it to one of the soldier types. (I just copied info from a mission file directly, but this should work too.) Stuff like spawning ammo crates should also work. Then just replace the mission file and package it up with cpbo. DISCLAMER: I don't know enough Arma modding to guarantee that it won't connect to the servers, you're doing this at your own risk. Flute posted:Yeah, spec-wise his computer is great, but neither of us really know about bootcamp or Wine or whatever it is people use to emulate Windows. I guess that's more what I was asking. Bootcamp is used to run Windows and OS X alongside on the same computer, you'll need to buy a copy of Windows and have enough disk space to install it. It's likely the only way of reliably run Arma on a mac, Wine doesn't work with it, and VMs like Parallels have too low performance with games.

A Lamer posted:Here is a spooky ghost story that best summarizes how rickety this mod can be: I had almost the same thing happen to me a few hours ago. I tried joining a server without having the latest version of the game. After updating the game i joined the same server, and had an identical copy of myself standing there. I didn't kill him though. Instead I ran away, right into a bandit. We pumped each other full of bullets, but neither one of us died. Even though my blood went down to about -5000, I didn't get any of the blood loss effects. I disconnected and tried another server, somehow I spawned healthy with all my equipment, like none of the events happened.

Reminalt posted:You have to manually light the fire after you place it. It can be a real pain in the rear end to find your fireplace if you place it in grass. And if you place a fire inside a building, it will spawn hovering above the floor, sometimes even high up out of reach.

Oppenheimer posted:Is there a link somewhere to play singleplayer? Someone mentioned it earlier. It's here: http://kronzky.info/missions/arma/dayzsp/ Looks like it's been updated with an item spawning menu now, no mission file editing required anymore. Edit: It spawns vehicles as well, but only the ones that spawn normally. Rectus fucked around with this message at May 25, 2012 around 14:13 |

Backov posted:What do the enterable churches look like? I've made my way to a few and they were all sealed. The only enterable church AFAIK is in Elektro, and looks like this. You can find toolboxes in any industrial building, they look like regular toolboxes made of blue plastic, and they go into a tool slot.

fuckpot posted:I am farming Military Barracks for an M4 Camo SD, GPS and some NV googles. That building has been placed there with the mission editor, it isn't there in the game. The only two barracks on the map are in the NW airfield, they're marked with the gun symbol on this map: http://teamfackin.com/moocow/dayz/map/

Quarex posted:Is there a way to get the Makarov from a new player, given that I have an empty M1911 and cannot seem to find any other weapons no matter how many buildings I enter without being able to defend myself? Do you just take the pack and hope for the best? Just aim at the corpse and press "Gear" when it appears. The backpacks are separate from the regular inventory, you have to open yours in the gear screen if you want to stuff things in there.

Is there a trick to setting up tents? I've been trying to get one up in many different places, on different versions and severs, but nothing works. It always gives the same "unable to place tent" message.

Jippa posted:On this map http://tinyurl.com/c5qkp6w what do the things in the greenish text represent? Yes, there are three castles that spawn loot, marked on this map. They have generic loot, and only spawn a few zombies. Not many players know of them, so they are relatively safe farming spots.

Wakko posted:Is there any reason to use a pistol at all now? Filling up the secondary inventory with bandages and saving space in your pack seems more useful than a weapon that needs 1 inventory slot per zombie kill. Headshots still instakill, right? As long as you take zombies out before alerting them you can make very efficient use of a PDW.

Ganson posted:No respawn button is pretty obnoxious when you get stuck in debug plains or break your legs :-/ Except that both those situations are supposed to be covered. The game should teleport or respawn you out of the plains, and the respawn button gets enabled when you're crippled.
