Another thing to hope for is more variety in levels. In the first game it seemed to just be 3 levels of 6-7 themes.

Sonics sea side tropical tracks
Billy Hatchers snow levels (all three!)
Squared off monkey ball jungle courses
House of the Deads haunted levels
Jet Set Radios urban levels which which were just a bland urban stage.
Eggmans robot base
Sonics Casino levels
and Samba De Amigos South American street courses.

I know Mario Kart did have some courses that were the same theme but they at least had some gimmick or something to differentiate the tracks.

Also wishing for more variety with the power-ups/items.

Maybe I'm asking too much for this game but the sega fan boy in me wants this to be good!

One of the big things mentioned in IGN's video is that there's no 'reused' tracks in this game. Every single one of them is going to be unique, and there's going to be tracks from a far wider variety of games than last time as well. So I don't think we have to worry about it this time around, I'm pretty sure it was simply a budget limitation in the previous game that made them go that route. Though they are bringing back a few from the previous game, I imagine it's the more popular tracks, like that psychedelic Samba level, the Death Egg, probably one of the House of the Dead levels, and maybe the Billy Hatcher volcano? Those are just guesses on my part though. I doubt it'll be like, all 4 variants of Seaside Hill or something.

But I agree on the items! I would love to see some pulled from various Sega titles too, there were a lot of weird generic things like boxing gloves and rainbows and whatnot that didn't tie into anything, and they could all be reflavored to be related to some game, I'm sure. Also there should totally be a Golden Axe potion bottle thing that hits other players with lightning when you use it.

Probably. That would be fine! I mostly just want to see some new items that are actually from stuff, other than the shield from Sonic and banana peels from monkey ball or whatever else there was.

The last game just had no memorable or iconic items I can think of. Weird stuff like rainbows messing with your screen or exploding traffic cones, sure, but nothing that goes "Hey! This is a Sega crossover racing game!". That is what I'd like to see more of.

Probably, considering that Banjo Pilot GBA game, which was basically just a stripped-down DKR(in theory but not as much in execution).

I could see them saving him for a credits sequence or something. Beat the game, get treated to Segata Sanshiro riding a rocket through all the tracks and off into the sunset as the credit roll ends. The perfect ending.

This is all datamined stuff from the 360 version. Everything on the disc, we've now seen- including some unfinished or currently unreleased DLC content possibly. This is the final roster, though the TF2 characters are probably PC-exclusive.

They could certainly add more via DLC though, if the game does well. Which it hopefully will.

Preordering from other places does not typically give you TF2 bonuses! Unfortunately. Sometimes it has, but by and large it has not.

If there's going to be a big TF2 promo push, it won't be immediately. I'd give it a week or two before they do the big reveal of the Team Fortress racer and whatever TF2 items they've got planned.

They might also be including the Shogun and Football Manager as PC-only incentives and those aren't mentioned anywhere yet either.

But yeah, it's up on Steam now.

Beyond the connection issues for custom games and the occasional dropped connection, the online play on PC seems pretty good though! I was having no lag issues and no trouble lining up shots with items. No weird latency stuff making people rubber-band around me or anything.

They did a good job with the PC version this time around. Definitely the best one to pick up if you've got the option- unless local 5 player is a big enough incentive to get it on WiiU.

It's a shame there isn't a chance to get more music tracks done in the All-Stars Racing Transformed style from other Sega games. I'd buy a ton of that stuff, the music in this game is really fantastically done.

That would be amazing. I'd also like to swap out some of the Samba De Amigo tracks to ones I actually like(the returning track picked the worst one to use) and replace the Death Egg track music with something from the classic sonic games instead of the thing it's got now that I don't recognize that I guess is from Sonic Heroes?

I love most of the music in this game... but. Most is not all.

I miss the ability to unlock additional music tracks for every level. That was a great thing in the previous game, and it would have been nice to get again here too.

Hopefully someone figures something out for replacing sound files. Fixing the TF2 voices would also be great, since the majority of their audio clips are rerecorded quotes from TF2 anyway. And hell, some texture replacement would be nice too- there's something weirdly off about the shade of yellow used on the Pyro's gloves in particular. Maybe it's just the lack of the fancy TF2 shaders though.

Yeah, that's actually way better. I didn't play the 3DS version of Generations since I heard it was garbage(a shame the 3DS version of SASRT seems to share that same fate to some degree), but that kind of fits in with the other tracks already in the game and is much better paced for a race.

I was trying to find something from Sonic Colors that worked well but I realized I couldn't actually remember any of the music from that game at all and gave up.

I'd rather not get my hopes up, though, especially since they already announced a new Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games plus a standalone Sonic game just this morning on Nintendo Direct.

Nintendo Direct also mentioned there was a 3rd Sonic title Nintendo was collaborating on they were going to announce at E3, and a new Mario Kart is set to be announced there as well. Could be legit. And it would explain why Sumo hasn't put out any further DLC if they basically had Nintendo go "hey guys, want to make the next Mario Kart... with Sonic in it?"

I think any developer would just drop everything and start working on that.
