I don't think I've mentioned it here but I was talking tonight to my wife about a reward when I finally hit my goal of 250. I'm not super huge on rewarding myself because that can be dangerous, for me, but I think I settled on something finally. I spent a semester abroad in the UK back in 2003 (Lancaster university) and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I've always wanted to go back but frankly my weight was a big reason I couldn't do that. I mean, I'm fat in the US but in Europe I get stares. We were discussing selling our house and buying a new one next year but I think now we'll go back to England instead and delay that for another year or so. We'll see, depends on money and all that. For some reason that's more tangible to me, because I know what it'll be like, than the general feeling of "what the gently caress will it be like to only be overweight instead of morbidly obeses!" I'd like to revisit there, see some old friends, and actually be able to fit in without feeling so out of place - at least not more out of place than one usually does in a foreign country. Also tomorrow going to learn how to cook Tofu tasty-like from my friends wife who is Japanese and an amazing cook, they eat some of the healthiest, tastiest dishes i've ever had.

I'm not big on self-rewarding either, but a vacation after meeting such a significant milestone is totally healthy. Going abroad is the best! Also, the cool thing about tofu is it's sort of a blank canvas for flavor. A good chef can turn it into almost anything. And being a food scale fascist rocks. It's even helpful for cooking recipes - no more measuring cups, just keep adding ingredients in the same bowl and taring the scale!

I'd say a kickass vacation is a good reward for meeting such a big goal. If you reward yourself with bad food at home, you're just doing things you could've done when you were huge. When you fly back to Europe you can be all 'this is something I would physically been unable to do and enjoy if I hadn't taken charge of my life'

Hey you rock! Great job on losing an entire human worth of weight! Regarding Italian food - if you can find it, try out spaghetti squash! I make a rad pasta sauce with lots of mushrooms and olives in it and then dump in a bunch of shredded chicken to finish it off. I then serve it over spaghetti squash (when it's available) or just dump it on top of more chicken! It really does help me kill that craving for pasta.
