I'm in for sure. Build off competition sounds like a blast and will be completely different. Going with hard for the hilarious factor, right? Won't be able to put in tons of time and am hella uncreative, so pick me last like the fat kid during dodgeball. Good news... I don't mind logging in for an hour of grunt work a day or so. Minecraft wouldn't be nearly as great on the Box as it is without someone like him keeping all of us from just soloing our own little worlds.

I'm honored to be first pick, Mormon. Sorry about not responding more quickly. Had a small issue with Comcast not realizing I had paid and they shut off my service. With that out of the way, I just need a time and date for when this is going down. I can only really play Friday-Sunday as those are my days off from work. Can't wait to see this unfold, it's going to be a lot of fun.

Man, I thought I would never feel the anticipation of being the odd man out in team selections after high school! Anyways, I would like to stick with PTX since I don't know anyone intimately. If that won't be the case I'll do leal service to anyone who chooses me. I do not like the implication of the Mormon's team name, though.

Found something interesting on a new random world of mine... I went to the edge of the map looking for a forest since I spawned into a frozen tundra area. Near the very edge I noticed a four block hole in a rock wall facing the ocean. It looked rather artificial, so I went to investigate. To my surprise, I found no cave, just a sudden square room with a mob spawner and tons of green moss. Now here's where it got eerie, right there next to the spawner were two chests full of saddles, cocoa beans, and a music disc. I though this version of the game didn't have npc stuff like that yet. I wish I could find some diamonds and try the disc out.

They are the only source of cocoa beans and saddles in this version. e: They are also easier to spot in sand areas because the terrain generator will spawn them in places where the collapsing sand makes their position quite obvious. Cherish the mossy cobblestone, you won't find any outside of one.

I like the concept of the competition server. I wish I could partake but I won't have gold for a little while. One thing I'm wondering though is how you'll regulate participation. It seems to me that 1 team could dominate due to the limited amount of players in a world. If people were having trouble getting on before it would be doubly frustrating if they were losing the game because of it. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to regulate when you're around but might get out of hand when afk. I think an honor system would probably suffice, if it is even as much of a problem as I imagine, but I'm just curious. Be sure to post lots of pictures so people aren't too tempted to jump on for sight seeing tours.

I'll reserve the right to change the rules as we go along if it helps the game. Having a month to build should give most people time to get something done, and we've got people from all time zones with all sorts of schedules so it should mostly balance out. If it looks like any factions are getting a time advantage the handsome, fair, and incredibly modest judge will step in and shuffle things around. I like competitions that come down to the wire, I want everyone to have a stake in it. Also, as well as declaring an overall winner, I will hand out some side awards too for individual excellence. Everything big or small that you build will be up against similar sized stuff in the other regions. I will be judging on: Aesthetic value. Uniqueness. Cleverness. Use of terrain. Etc. Another recreation of Stormin's temple would lose points for being old hat for example. I don't care if people go for a single mega-project, a cute town, a collection of individual buildings. It's up to you to decide what you wish to make. Originality counts big in my book though. And yes, I will post regular updates for in-thread discussion and virtual sightseeing. I think it will do people good to see some, but maybe not all, of what the rivals are doing. So you know what you have to beat. Discomedusae posted:Mind sharing the seed? So I think my world forgot to spawn Diamonds. I've got more shafts then I know what to do with coming out of a mine 10-15 blocks up from bedrock and I've found 2 diamonds. Diamonds are pretty rare, finding them digging shafts probably won't net much. I like to explore existing caves, the deeper the better, and look for lava pools. Almost every time I dig around lava completely I find something valuable. When you do find some be sure to dig out fully around the spot because blocks can spawn diagonally adjacent to other blocks that would be hidden if you just dig out what you can see.

An idea had struck me today for this build off, and who ever picks me I will pitch it to them in the best of fashion. I think it is a genius idea and one that could be implemented with a few folks working hard at it. Now I'm getting excited for this, but I hope it starts soon because next week Darksiders 2 comes out and I'm going to on that joint non- stop, until borderlands 2.

So downfall, brothusela, and contard have been helping me make a blast proof chamber lately. If anyone wants to play with TNT, I should have it ready by this weekend or early next week.
