When he's flipping through the cards there's a couple extra frames on the 7 of diamonds than any of the others. The 7 of diamonds is shown clearly and distinctly compared to all the others which are blurry, so it's the one your brain picks out.

The fact they showed the dragon is mostly for people like my mom who were super pissed at the end of the first movie because "where's the loving dragon" (not her actual words).
