Can anyone post a /spoiler'd list of the bosses and act locations so far? All I know is King Leoric, the butcher, and Magda is somewhere in there. quote:So basically, I have to keep the game running, or I lose all the map exploration I've done? That's retarded. Dude this isn't skyrim. If you quit before you find a proper waypoint there's still checkpoints so you don't lose any progress. The maps are randomized for your benefit. You can re-run areas and literally find new quests you never saw before.

All this talk of people only getting drops unsuitable for the class they're playing is further validation for my strategy of playing through each act with every class before proceeding to the next one.

I'm going to guess you didn't play either of the other Diablos. Also, once you beat the game on normal, you're going to be playing the game by rerunning entire areas to try to get more loot, just to prepare yourself for the other difficulties. The fact that things reset adds a lot of replayability to the game.

However the issue here is that if you get involuntarily DC'd, there's no "grace period" where you can login back in standing in the same place where you were when you got DC'd. It's kind of like if you get DC'd in an instance in WoW. If you're able to log back in in a reasonable amount of time you start right where you left off. As it stands right now, if you get DC'd then *poof* everything is instantly gone and you're back at the last checkpoint or town or whatever. Who knows, it's probably intended and I'm probably not used to it because I haven't played an ARPG in like 5 years, but regardless it's still very jarring.

Going from completely coasting through Act 1 to not even being able to survive 2 mobs at once in Act 2 is ridiculous.

Do the bonuses on items you equip onto your companion apply e.g. more XP or % chance to find magic items? Are companions even worth having? I keep the templar around for now because hey why not, he has healing spells, but he seems pretty useless when it comes to killing things, and do they take xp off you for shared kills?

Does anyone else think that the demon hunter is kind of crippled? He's the only class that needs to use a specific kind of weapon. A Wizard or a Monk can equip god drat bows and greatswords and they'll still do spells/kung-fu based off the weapon damage, the same applies to the other classes. But with the demon hunter they went "Yeah you need a bow or crossbow. Oh you found an awesome sword? Too bad."

You're right, that is a pain, and it sucks. The problem isn't with the randomisation though, it's with there not being a grace period to rejoin a singleplayer game before it disappears from the server.

If I bought the digital standard edition, then buy the CE, can I transfer the license later? (sell the standard cd key and get the CE loot, and hopefully keep the characters I made from the standard edition?)

You could get new events or quests generated that you haven't seen before and everything is less predictable. New monsters who drop new weapons. New configurations of scenery. There is literally no downside that I can imagine.

You play this game series very differently from almost everyone else who plays it, I guess? I know that I never ended up touching 'single player' Diablo II, even though I often played alone. Being able to go back and do parts I liked over for fun and profit was my favorite part of playing on Battle.net

SirPhoebos posted:D3 is running like rear end on my laptop while outdoors, but indoors it's fine. I'm guessing you have it plugged in when you're inside? Most gaming laptops greatly reduce the performance of the GPU when it's on battery because it's so power-hungry, I'm not sure if there's a way to fix that, but even if there is you'd be lucky if you got even half an hour out of the battery with everything running at full blast.

Past the early levels, many classes have a weapon that they gravitate towards. Barbarians - Mighty Weapons Wizards - Wands Monks - Daibo/Fist Weapons WD - Ceremonial Knives Besides with smithing it's not all that hard to get a specific weapon type. Anyway a big part of D2 was trading items that were not useful to you for items that were.

Assuming you mean outdoors in-game, no, there's no way to fix it. I take a 20 FPS hit on a system that's way, way above the game reqs when outdoors compared to indoors.

I am pretty thrilled that with my old 2.7gHz Core 2 Duo, 4gb ram, and an 8800GTS the game runs smooth as silk with settings turned up to high at 1920x1080. I was expecting some chop, but so far the only chopping is that which is being delivered by my monk in furious fashion. My monk could totally kick Mike Tyson's rear end.

Finally finished normal difficulty, the game's awesome. Though from the second half of act 3 and onward the it felt a bit too easy. I mean I know it's just normal difficulty but my monk was dropping bosses as if the were champions, sometimes even faster. I don't know if it's because I got lucky with drops/crafting or just because the difficulty was toned down so everyone could at least finish normal. Can anyone explain how artisans leveling work? I maxed them as far as I could with gold, but to level them further I need Pages of Training. Are those drops or are they unlocked through progression?

The only real stinkyhole enemies in Act 2 are those loving wasps. I fought a champion pack of those with Vortex enchantment, took me three lives to take them down because they'll send out their mini-wasps then Vortex you right through them for 400+ damage. God forbid if you get caught up in a pack and you can't even see the little fuckers coming at you.

Has anyone else had large framerate drops when switching to fullscreen windowed? I didn't change any settings at all other than that, and going from fullscreen windowed to just fullscreen made for an enormous performance difference - it was the difference between a choppy slideshow and smooth action with no problems.

What does filling out the map have any baring on anything? Why do you care so much about your ~*exploration progress*~ in a game that isn't about exploration whatsoever? Honestly man, you're complaining about stuff that isn't even inherent to the genre Diablo exists in. This is akin to complaining that Doom didn't have enough loot.
