As long as whatever you have is capable of VTOL, MechJeb will work just fine. Eagle 1 will land on Minimus and Bardorf Kerman will be the first to freeze his little balls off.

Here's a new aircraft that I'm willing to let anyone with the performance try to fly. I call it Barbed Wire 1.

It won't fall apart on the landing pad as seen here:

Remember to put it into the ships/SPH folder.

Edit: It does fly. It takes off at the end of the loving land.

ASAS does use the new control surfaces.

That said I don't imagine using a spaceplane to get into space, or even the upper atmosphere, will end up being a feasible thing (at least not without linear RCS heh). It was tricky enough to get out of the thickest band of atmosphere with a spaceplane with 1 LFE on it for added thrust, much less to get a payload up there to continue on with. They do seem to make viable reentry vehicles if you're a stud and can time your deorbit burn properly.

GOD drat IT

Now I get it.

I managed to pull off that land speed thing with 2 tanks of fuel and an empty fuselage. Goddamn I wonder if I'm going to be able to go faster than 210 m/s... I wish we could see sonic booms in this game.

Edit: Since the ground isn't level, if the vehicle flies up into the air it is alright, but it has to land back on the wheels for it to count. At least that's what I call it to "count".

Edit: 216 m/s over land. One tank of fuel. I guess I can go faster...

Edit 2: 222 m/s! Goddamn this is great.

Jeb would be proud

The deep space ship I made earlier has become my defacto heavy lifter - for the purposes of lifting a surveying rover to Minmus, I replaced the nose section with a Cuttlefish pod. Even though this added another 50 tons to a total 350-ton launch vehicle (this may seem small but keep in mind Kerbin is 1/10 the size of Earth and with 1/4th the escape velocity!) it was still able to make it.

I drove at about 100mph to the edge of a frozen lake where the surrounding terrain was relatively flat and marked the coordinates. For what? An ice drill.

No microorganisms will hide from Jebediah Kerman.

I expect to strap rockets to the holes drilled in the ice and then try to smash the Minmus into the Mun.

I've started treating it like a Kerbal long jump feathering the RCS after takeoff to see how far I can get before running out of fuel.

I have half a dozen RCS pointing downwards on top of the fueltanks and nacelles. They stabilize the whole thing when testing on grass. Also, makes it go faster somehow.

e. Managed 468 on grass before hitting a bump and rocketing upward. Who needs wings?
