Do some things end up going straight through Serenity? I'm speaking mainly of Oppressors from Act IV, or at least that's where I've seen it happen. Maybe it's just lag.

When I hit the preloader (servers aren't up yet, just checking) they had the 1.02 patch notes in the news box but I hit play before noticing it since it's a small one and loaded quickly. There doesn't seem to be a way to get them back and they're not online yet. Anyone who hasn't updated yet willing to load it up and do a copypasta?

When you put an item on the AH it lasts 2 days if not bought or bid. When the AH is down does the count still keep going or is it paused?

Anecdotal but I'm pretty sure I've logged on after the AH came back up and had a few completed items that appeared to have expired during AH downtime, so I think it keeps going. I'd think the counter is a time from start date and doesn't get suspended.

I was watching TrumpSC stream the other day, and once he got a mob down 5% or something, he would quickly equip magic find gear and then finish them off. However, a friend said that a blue post invalidated this strategy, that you needed MF gear before engaging the mob.

I know a lot of people would farm Act 4 Inferno solo, get an enemy to 5% and have 3 characters decked out in MF gear join. So that works, I'm also pretty sure swapping gear works, if they didn't intend for that sort of stuff to happen they would have implemented a WoW-like combat/gear system.

Wouldn't this mostly negate the benefit of fortune shrines, unless there was some exception for them in loot rolls? Speaking of magic find, I've been hearing that the magic/gold find in multiplayer games is actually averaged out across the party. Is this true? If so, how does it interact with the part of full valor stacks that guarantees rares on a boss kill? AnonSpore posted:I know this has been answered before, but I can't find it for the life of me. This seems consistent with my experience in-game.

Just found out my Boj Anglers are bugged. I guess the +12% attack speed doesn't actually work? Does that mean the DPS on screen is inaccurate, or will my DPS increase when the patch fixing it is released? Also, mine raises int and dex, not strength at all, for d3db is incorrect.

So then my strategy of wearing MF gear until I engage an enemy, quickly swapping to my fighting gear, and then swapping back when they're dead is fine, right? Also I'm pretty sure the other strat works just fine. The MF gear of the people who join your party must be factored in because otherwise it would be even more gameable: Have one person with awesome MF, have them fight a monster down, and then join the game. You still get 4x the loot, and if you're only using the Mf of the well geared person, then they can wear whatever they want. In fact, if the loot is generated when you engage them, all you have to do is have your MF guy run ahead of everyone and then have everyone else come in and sweep up. chumpchous fucked around with this message at May 30, 2012 around 06:52 |

I've been solo farming inferno Butcher, whittling him down to 5%, then throwing my lovely MF gear on which results in 235% MF (combined with 5 stacks of Nephalem Valor.) It really seems to make no difference when I do this. Before I started swapping in the MF gear, I'd get the same drops -- 3 rares, occasionally 4, and about 6 magic items. If it were possible for me to enter his room and kill him, all the while wearing the MF gear, I'd try that out for more testing, but it's not going to happen.

Josh Lyman posted:I believe MF only works on monsters, not bosses, but again, this is all speculation about when it activates, how it's handled when people join a party, etc. No, magic find most definitely works on bosses. The 75% bonus from a full stack of valor plus a bit of gear puts me at 112% or so, and bosses go from dropping three blues to three yellows and about five blues.

^^^ That's because the full neph buff guarantees 2 yellows from bosses. Kill a boss with 112 MF not from neph and watch 2 blues and a cracked sash drop. That said, I've anecdotally noticed that killing a boss with 75 MF from neph usually gets me 2 rares and some blues, plus an occasional 3rd. Killing a boss with 300 mf (including neph) drops insane amounts of poo poo. Almost always 3 rares, sometimes 4, and at least 7 blues. It seems pretty consistent, but who knows. scary ghost dog posted:MF is averaged between the party. If one person has 100% and the other three have 0%, everyone has 25%. I know that's my point: If loot were generated when the monster is off screen, you could just have one guy with tons of MF run ahead of your group, and then have everyone else run in after him and kill everything. The only non-exploitable way to keep people from gaming MF is to poll the MF of the entire party periodically throughout a fight, and then average before rolling at the monsters death. I don't think they do it this way though. chumpchous fucked around with this message at May 30, 2012 around 12:14 |

Downward Spiral posted:One of the two possible attack speed mods is bugged right now. This should be fixed soon, even though it's not on the Known Issue's list on the forum yet. To expand on this, there's two different attributes that boost attack speed. One is "increases attack speed by x%" and that works directly off the item's attack speed, so despite it showing up on some armor pieces, it does not work on armor, only on weapons. The other is "attack speed increased by x%" which works off of your character's base(?) attack speed and it does work on armor. They said in the recent article that they plan on buffing Legendary items, and expanding item affixes, but that they will not be retroactive. Hopefully they plan on fixing things like the attributes on armor that don't work and that sort of poor itemization. But that won't be until the patch that adds PVP into the game, which is slated to be 1.1.

On elites/rares: If the mob is engaged for more than X minutes, it will gain an ability called 'out of time', which causes a dot effect on everyone who is in combat with it. This dot rapidly ramps up until one or two ticks will kill you - at that point you can't even go near the mob without instantly dying. This ability does not seem to reset when the mob is disengaged, so it can leave mobs permanently unkillable. On bosses: The only one I know of is the Butcher, if you don't kill him after 3 minutes the entire floor catches on fire and you pretty much die.
