BOGGLE?

Mike Ross (Patrick J Adams) has a brilliant legal mind and is an up and coming associate at Pearson Hardman, one of New York's most prestigious law firms. The only problem? Not only did he not graduate from Harvard (a requirement of the firm) but he never graduated from any university instead being kicked out for selling a math test. Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) is Pearson Hardman's newest senior partner and hired Mike in the first place with full knowledge of his history.

Where we left off: Harvey butted heads with the Manhattan DA in an attempt to free an innocent man. While the ultimate douchebag Trevor (Tom Lipinski) showed up to ruin Mike's life one last time with a cliffhanger ending of him meeting with Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres).

The show was a surprise hit for USA last year so they upped the episode order to 16 from 12. For anyone wondering about the thread title, Suits is kind of unique for a USA show as they're allowed to swear (say "poo poo" basically) when it fits the dialogue.

I swing both ways.

I only saw a few episodes of this but I found it surprisingly enjoyable; what stood out the most to me is how it spun USA's Straight Man/Con Man formula by having the Straight Man be up to shadier things than the Con Man. That's the impression I got, anyway.

Looking forward to this. Gabriel Macht was awesome in his role as douchebag alpha-lawyer and Adams played very well off him. Lots of witty, quick banter and lots of eye candy. Rachel (?, the paralegal) is great in her role and the receptionist ain't too hard on the eyes either.

My one wish for this season is they don't bring back Mike's rear end in a top hat friend from wherever the hell they shipped him off to to gently caress up Mike's poo poo any further. That's probably a plot point douchebag Trevor could fulfill easily.

It's a USA show so I'm expecting the whole "Trevor spills Mike's secret" thing to be resolved in like 10 minutes, or at least being put on the backburner until the season finale or the mid-season episode.

Also there is not nearly enough Donna in the OP

Well, it just wouldn't be a USA show if the shocking events of the season finale weren't hand-waved somehow. That's how the formula works. And I honestly don't care because the formula works.

Yeah. Jessica will confront Harvey, Harvey will spend the whole episode fighting with her over firing Mike, Harvey will accept the inevitable, Mike will do something brilliant, and Jessica will have a change of heart and stop Harvey. Then the rest of the season will have Jessica in on it and starting to mentor Mike and will end with Lewis finding out for another shocking cliffhanger. There's more mystery over what will happen with the love triangle.

I sincerely love USA shows and their formula. Summer TV is all about relaxing, fun TV for me and I always trust USA to deliver that.

The whole first season is up on On Demand for my cable service so if anyone wants to catch up or refresh themselves they might want to check theirs.

I like waiting for Thursday to do a 1-2 punch with Franklin And Bash followed by Suits for all my lawyers needs during the summer. I'm glad to see both shows are back and that Suits get more episodes, that means more Rachel to look at and more Donna to listen to.

I am not on your side

I quite enjoyed this and am looking forward to more. I like legal dramas with an emphasis on the legal stuff. Although whenever they're in a courtroom I find myself nostalgic for Boston Legal. I think James Spader's courtroom dramatics and Denny Crane's "Denny Crane" have pretty much spoiled me forever in this regard.

It's one those shows that I think is better than it's hook (Mike not being a real lawyer) but probably needed it to get the green light in the first place. It would be just as good a show without it and I don't think drama related to this really adds that much and over time it could actually be a liability. I just like the characters and their interation and the law stuff the drama that comes from the hook I could do without. It'll be interesting to see whether or not they start pushing anything to do with that further and further into the background as some other shows do.

It reminds my quite a bit of Psych. Not so much as in the plot, but tonally. In so far as the cast has really great chemistry, especially the two leads and it's pretty lighthearted fun. It wouldn't be out of place at all on USA.

Well they have the easy out for that since that hacker girl put Mike into Harvard's system. It wouldn't stand up to any actual investigation but a cursory check would show that he went there.

Thanks a lot for the heads up, I'm watching this now (up to episode 3) and I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would when I first saw the ads for this.

One thing: the On Demand version mutes all the swears, so anyone catching up that way might be in for some awkward times.

Late to the party but there's some shameful poo poo going on ITT with no-one backing you up on this. From the very first episode when she gave Harvey the nod about Mike she's been an integral part of the ensemble.

As for hearing negative things, to be blunt a lot of them are probably true. The episode about the motor racing team was especially cringe worthy and the horribly portrayed "There just to stir poo poo" characters should indeed be sent back to their home planet.

However, the main cast of Harvey, Mike, Donna, Louis and Jessica are great though and the screen time for their shenanigans is usually worth the entry fee. Here's where I might draw some stone throwing: Rachel is terrible too.

Edit: VVVVV To be fair that probably has influenced my thoughts, seeing this thread pop up reminded me about the show and that's how last season ended in my mind, the whole love triangle thing was rubbish.

Rachel was really awesome for most of the season, but there were a couple episodes in there towards the end where they shortchanged her character for the sake of the will they or won't they, which annoyed me to no end because they'd largely avoided doing that.

I actually don't mind the douche bag ex-friend. I think he's creepy and hosed up enough to be effective. They've given the relationship enough back story for it not to be there just for the sake of being there to me.

Edit: Also, watched the first season of Franklin and Bash and really enjoyed it. The only episode that annoyed me was the one with the woman who was fired for "being too pretty" from the firm that basically employed super models. It really irritated me that they spent the whole episode laughing at her behind her back because she was sooo ugly and delusional and oh my god how are we ever going to win this case! No, she wasn't super model pretty or in the category of gorgeous but she was in no way shape or form ugly. She was plain or average and fell into the 'cute' category but they spent the whole episode acting like she was a loving troll. It just kinda made them all look like assholes.

Whenever TV shows me "ugly" peoples I'm reminded of that Simpsons episode where one TV exec says to another something along the lines of "I asked you to find me someone tv-ugly not real life ugly" regarding Moe.

That's what the girl was in that episode, tv ugly, which mean she was an 8 or a 9 in real life.
