It's a dagger skill and it requires you to be like level five vocation or something, at the cost of ~1,300 or 1,400 DP. It doesn't immediately unlock.

The other day, I killed a Drake as a Magick Archer and my Magician's Crutch seemed to upgrade itself to a red plus icon, as opposed to the three stars you'd normally see for a fully enhanced weapon. Does anyone know what that means?

edit: Nevermind, Gyoru let me know, if you guys are curious:

[08:49] <@GyoruSPY> red + means the item is dragon forged
[08:49] <@GyoruSPY> it's the 4th and final equipment level
[08:50] <@GyoruSPY> there's like a 20-30% chance that a random equipped item will be tempered to dragon forged when you kill a draconic enemy like a drake
[08:50] <@GyoruSPY> killing the final boss of the main game will dragon forge everything you have equipped

I've unlocked assassin but those augments didn't seem great outside of playing an assassin. Should I unlock ranger and get some from there?

She has a really nice healing spell set now though I have been running with fighter/sorceror/mage/me for a while.
The better augments tend to unlock at the later vocation ranks. Sorceror has some really great augments for magic classes. For instance, there's an augment that greatly increases magic attack, an augment that increases cast speed, an augment that helps reduce interruption during casting, and an augment that reduces stamina consumption from spell casting.

If you do swap her out, you can always hire a mage pawn for healing duties. Ranger has some interesting utility skills, like increasing your lantern's radius of illumination, but play around with it out of your own interest. I played around with it, thought it was kind of boring, but I know other people liked it.

Magic Archer is probably my most enjoyed class. It has a lot of versatility and utility. The only issue I have with it is the magic damage output, but I'm currently a sorceror, leveling up and getting augments to help buff my magic. Also started as a strider and did some ranger stuff, so I probably didn't have the best starting magic growth.

At the encounter by the Waycastle, there was a person trapped in a cage, surrounded by some harpies. The encounter for the quest started, too, but I killed all the harpies first and got the rescue cutscene, then the encounter never really happened. I also ran into the Encampment one, but the sun rose and I don't think I killed all the appropriate bandits, but the music stopped. Did the other two and went to Cassardis, no Zero, went back to each of the spots and nothing happened. Hopefully this gets remedied by quitting the game or something, I don't want to go to NG++ to get that trophy :sigh:

But it's actually a reference to the fact that the duke took the dragon's bargain and had his loved one die so he could be duke and now he's a bit batty and choking his new wife, Aelinore, because he regrets letting the dragon kill his old love, Lenore.

I thought it was pretty cool :)
Should also point out that when you kill Drake/similar guys, they say (post-game spoilers coming up) "The seat of God lies beyond."
Also, when you first enter Gran Soren, your pawn(s) occasionally say things like The Duke beat the dragon and got all the glory. Thing is, nobody really knows how the hell he managed to do it.

Magic Archer is definitely the class I enjoy playing the most. However, its stat growth is pretty underwhelming, so I would definitely recommend getting some time in as a Sorceror before going to Magic Archer. One for getting better Magic Attack growth, and two for getting those augments that help Magic Casters. I initially went Strider to Magic Archer and always noted how my bow skills did rather meager damage.
