Hey goons, thinking about buying this game for the weekend.

Any gripes that would stop me from buying this game? I just came off Diablo 3 and was sick of the mess there. Especially Inferno mode.

Just got the game.

I love that there is an actual challenge to the game.

What I'm not a fan of is running everwhere? Is there no fast travel in this game? How soon can I get Ferry Stones?

Also, why can I kill that thing in the cave under the Pawn Guild? It doesn't seem to take any damage?

If I can't beat that thing, why did they include it in my first three hours?

I did the escort quest for the Golden Idol. Apparently, doing it a certain way locks you out of the Golden Idol.

How big of a deal is it that I didn't get the Golden Idol?

I think you only get to do those after you reach Gran Soren?

I got the thief one after I went back to check on Quinna after reaching Gran Soren

This loving game.

I was on the quest to get the Snakeskin purse and I've been out for awhile and it starts to get dark and naturally ghosts start to appear.

Since I brought only one mage support pawn, I just soldiered on and continued moving forward trying to find the purse. It's dark and I can't see much beyond my lantern.

I'm climbing up a slight hill and a loving CHIMERA appears lion head first into my face. It scared the poo poo outta me as the sulfur Saurians are catching up behind me as a few straggling ghosts coming up from behind as well.

I must have fought for over an hour, as I tried to show off my Warrior to my girlfriend as I climbed onto the snake and started hitting the snake with the butt of my hammer.

As the sun started to rise, I felt great elation as now I can finally see the woods surrounding me and the ghosts disappeared with the dawn.

This loving game.

I started using a Tyrion pawn from some goon (Gyoru?) even though he was way high level because I wanted the little Game of Thrones dude running around with me.

I didn't realise the high level meant he would also know everything about everything. Wherever we went and whatever we fought he would be chatting away being a smug little know-it-all, it was perfect.

Just added my name to the list! PS3 players!

Fear the almighty power of... my girlfriend!

Swinging hammers and taking names! After taking their poo poo, because apparently Main Pawns learn what you do and I like to run around grabbing herbs while my pawns fight dragons.

Lvl 26 with Primary Nexus Secondary Mitigator

Edit: Is there a easier way to add goons as friends on the PS3? I've been using the in-game system.

Go back to Cassardis and kill bats there for the quest. That should set you up with 50k. From there, you can make forays into a couple of main quests.

Cheating with goon pawns help too.

Just don't be like and do the escort quest for Adara (your adoptive father and chief of the village). After I did the escort for him, the escort for Mercedes disappeared.

I was a Fighter too at that part of the game and could have use the shield.

It's probably Ice. When I switched Tilak to a Mage, she shouted a lot of "It ill likes fire and ice"

Also take out Tilak more. She's a Fighter now at 43 now with completely upgraded Gold Idol items.

Drinking a potion automatically makes that inclination your secondary, unless it was already that in which case it becomes the primary. Basically you can completely change your pawn's main/secondary affinities with 3 potions. 2 to get whatever you want as primary, then one to make that thing secondary.

When I made my main pawn a Mage, I gave her Medicant/Utilitarian. After I turned her into a Fighter, I gave her two Mitigator and one Nexus. It made her Mitigator/Nexus.

After a while she became Mitigator/Medicant.

So obviously, the potions add a set amount but it is easy to revert back to their old ways.

What does a fighter do to encourage Medicant anyway?

Edit: Also, due to my lootwhoring ways, she became an Acquisitor. When she was a Mage, when she was Medicanting or Utilitaring, she was poking things up for me.

I got the quest from Maul the first time I visited his camp to get the Tome.

The funny thing about Julien is when you kill him during the Mercedes duel and use a Wakestone on him. He comes back to life and is imprisoned in the castle. If you check the Gran Soren inn notice board, you can do an escort quest for him... to the Great Wall. He goes there in full armour including mask and I guess we just leave him there to return to his cell alone? Tis an honourable chap, that Julien.

The Cheshire Cat posted:

You can actually hit anywhere on the body part where the heart is located to deal damage - spamming arrows at the sinew of the wings will deal damage to the outer wing heart, for instance (there's two hearts on the wings - one outer bit you can't grab on to but it barely has any health, and one at the joint that you can reach by climbing).

Some other bits you might have missed:
-The top of the head (the "heart" is actually his glowing eyes). It's actually a separate weak spot from his chin so be aware of this!
-There are like, five hearts just in his neck. It's possible you might have missed one of them.
-The tail has three - the very tip is a pain in the rear end to kill because even though you can grab on to it, you'll get thrown off any time he flicks his tail (which is a lot).

Okay, I was missing the wingspan.

Here's a little guide since I've got some offline Ur-dragon wins under my belt.

Once the Ur-Dragon lands, I usually go for it's hind legs. Work up the foot to the thigh, that's three.

I then work on either the tail or get on its back. Usually, I can get the first and second heart of the tail before it gets too hard (heh). If I get on its back, I work on my way up from the lower back to the two wing hearts. After getting all 4, I move on to the neck -> eyes -> chin.

Next is the forelegs, since they have relatively low health, getting him to collapse is easy. Once he is on his stomach, move around to the tip of his tail and try to do some damage. It should zombify really quick and then move on to his chest -> stomach -> ribs on each side then finally the wingspan with your arrows.

I am just starting my pawn on sorc and I forgot how awful it is to level.

There is a guide on gamefaqs that is very useful.

Basically, you get two pilgrims charms. Head to the Great Wall with just you and your main pawn. Rest till night then go to the graveyard north of the Great Wall(head west then head north before you cross the earth bridge.

When you see the wight, pop a pilgrim charm and farm his skeleton summons. Remember not to kill him and remove your pawn's weapon. Use only two charms per night and you will make back the dough for the charms easily.

I seem to remember my Magic Cannon and Ruinous Sigil taking on elemental properties. I know this because my pawn turned my Ascalon into fire when I was fighting the Ur-Dragon. I also remember throwing him into Everfall for being a numbskull.

There really is no point to do the Ur-Dragon now at it's current Generation at 85.

To all those who want to tackle Reynard's quest.

You need to buy or sell large quantities of items off him. Don't bother buying out his stock. You can just buy all his curatives, exit and then sell it back to him to trigger his quest.

After selling back to him, his stock is replenished and then you can buy / resell again for a quick quest popup. It took me less than 10 buy and resells to get up to the final submission of his Dad's journals.

Honestly, the hard part
Is locating that wandering motherfucker.
