Can someone explain what the op means by saying the graphics are better on PS3? I'm still torturing myself with which version to get. I'm surprised to hear that everyone is saying the ps3 is the one to get in the last day or 2 considering how much better the Xbox demo ran.

Lemme kill some manticores and poo poo, god dammit! :argh:

E: Thought it might be the hard drive, but the game saves/loads just fine and plays alright without being installed. Obviously I don't want to just play from the disc, though. Anyone got any ideas?

Won't install for me either. Wtf?! We are off to a good start already.

A few questions...Why is my health seem to be at the half way mark even if it appears to be full? Also, Do I do anything when I level up or is everything automatic? Finally, my bow occasionally fires powerful fire arrows but I can't tell what is triggering it. Am I building up a meter that leads to that or something?

Thanks.

So far this game has been pretty much what I was expecting and I'm digging it. There are some glaring flaws but none of them really bother me aside from the lack of enemy lock on which is loving killing me. Hopefully I can used to it.

Also, much tougher than I was expecting which is nice.

Ok, is it normal to get completely owned towards the beginning? I am fighting some worms and they kill me in about 2 hits and take a solid minute a piece to kill. There must be a dozen of them too.

I just keep taking fireballs in the rear end that instantly kill me if i have so much as a sliver of life missing.

Actually I did read them and that's why your post was redundant :D

Allright no more derail. If anyone is wondering when exactly strider gets a dodge it's level 15.

I'm hoping that at some point I get a bow that permanently has magic attributes. it's a bummer sitting around crossing my fingers that a pawn is going to bless me with them. Fire literally makes poo poo like 5 times more powerful. Plus it makes it so i can't personally do damage to enemies immune to melee unless I'm blessed.

So far, man. This game is just awesome even if it's kind of frustrating at times. Really glad I didn't let mediocre reviews get me down.

This game is weird and awesome. I have never played anything like it. There are just so many weird design choices and everything is just so organic and interactive. I love it.

The best thing about it me though, is that it a totally open world but it doesn't feel like it. Most open world games sacrifice the action in favor of choice but DD feels so much like an action game that I keep having to remind myself that I can indeed fall off that cliff, go in that little corner, or climb on top of a castle for no reason.

It takes something special to make me forget Diablo 3 exists for a whole day.

The camera quality is lovely but if you look at the sky in the video, that is how everything looks in the game for me. It's the game not my camera. It's has made it totally unplayable at night. It's like watching a migraine and i can't even see enemies. The during the day it looks just fine...

I literally can't wrap my mind around the save system in this game. I am trying to do this quest "A fortress besieged". I ran around trying to find this loving red circle forever, killed a Chimera, a dragon and a couple of ogres amongst 100's of trivial enemies. This took a really long time. Eventually I decided to try and run back because I couldn't figure out where to go. I had saved probably 5 times over the course of this and decided to reload my game at the thieves castle. "Reload Checkpoint" meant bumping back to Cassardis. all of my saves ignored, no way to load my save without literally existing the game, checpoint means wherever the gently caress we felt like saving last. Whoever thought this save system up needs to get punched in the loving balls. I have never been so pissed off at a game in my life.

That's bizarre, I have never had it not reload my latest save game available, be it my manual save or an automatic checkpoint save.

Maybe it just glitched then? I have just had horrible luck with this game in a technical sense. Broken saves, broken vendors, broken graphics, broken skill upgrading...It's like completely loving game ruining. I have no faith that anything i do will actually work. I seem to be the only one with this problem though so i don't know what the gently caress.

Seriously all this poo poo just about killed my motivation to play anymore, which sucks because I like Dragon's Dogma so much outside of the tech problems i have had.

Shardok posted:

Do not pick Reload from Last Checkpoint. Always pick the Retry option or just quit game and reload entirely. Both work. And your old saves should still exist right now if you quit game and reload.

Kinda disappointed in the variety of items thus far, and the RPG-style restrictions against using "non-class" gear.

I've gotten as far as bringing the Hydra's head to Gran Soren, then I just kinda hosed off and killed a bunch of bandits, striped saurians, skeletons, hobgoblins, and a cyclops, pretty much just grinding levels.

So far, though, I've found the combat lacking. It's pretty much Dynasty Warriors level, just keep hitting your combo and once in a while do something special, or just stunlock enemies with the sprinting thrust attack. I'm not even finding that much use out of the grapple/climb mechanic. Half the poo poo I've tried climbing (Wild cyclops I killed, giant ape in the Everfall) either throws you off before you can get to whatever their weak point is supposed to be, or doesn't honestly seem to take any more damage from attacking them while climbing as compared to just cutting their ankles up.

Worst of all to me, it doesn't seem particularly difficult at all, they just give enemies loving shitloads of health so that you can have a lackluster fight with a cyclops or ape for 30 minutes while not being in a particular amount of danger as long as you manage yourself and keep reviving your pawns so they can tank the damage.

Am I just flat out doing something wrong, or is my experience the average experience for a melee fighter in this game?

This has definitely not been my experience with the Strider so far. You realize loot is found pretty much exclusively in chests and shops as opposed to enemy drops right?

What kind of time frame is the quest expiration thing on anyway? I saw it mentioned a few times early on in the thread, but I haven't seen any complaints about it lately so maybe it's not that bad and/or rare.

I would definitely not do it. I don't know how long they take to expire but they are really long quests and you are going to want to go back to Grand Soren to resupply in between anyways.

I have hit a point in the main quest where it's impossible to beat the mission I am on, then I go and try to find side missions to level up and every loving one of them is some vague gathering quest with no waypoints or anything.
