Update: Jiblet has created a Spotify playlist of all the songs who's lyrics are featured in the yearly title screens. You can listen to it here. If you're new to the thread! ![]() I'm attempting to keep the OP updated so that each update appears on this page. You don't have to go through the entire thread looking for my name and some images on the screen. It's all here. Additionally, I'm adding cool things others have posted, such as stories and art and other things that the game supposedly references from the real world. Feel free to add this kind of thing to the thread, I love seeing it, and I will try to get it into the OP! And now back to the original post: ============================== A bit of a backstory: In anticipation of Diablo III coming out, I set out to play the original Diablo (as I hadn't yet). A friend offered to lend me his original disks after we talked about my plight. Excited, I eagerly anticipated getting my hands on a copy of the game to have something to do while I waited for D3's release. My excitement completely fell flat when I found out the game on the disks were not compatible with 64-bit Windows 7. But all was not lost! I quickly came up with another plan. All I would need is a Windows 95 machine... The next day I visited my parent's house to rummage through my dad's stockpile of spare computer parts he had been accumulating for the better part of two decades. In less than an hour, I had a system setup, though it was hacked together with parts from 1995ish to 2004. Regardless, it was running DOS, which would allow me to install Windows 95. (This would have been a LOT easier just to get the game through less reputable means, but I wanted to experience the game as originally intended.) Determined, I began to rummage for our old Win 95 install disks when I came across something that caught my eye. Something old... ![]() It was labeleld "Moments" and had a copyright date of 1982 on it. The label was in relatively good condition and it was a 5 1/4" disk, which I had a bay for already mounted so that I could install DOS. The "Internal Distribution Only" stamp is what really caught my eye. Here's a close up of the label, including some sticky note thing my father must have stuck on it at one point in time: ![]() At this point I'm gathering it's some old game, and since I've got the hardware and software to run it sitting next to me humming away, I decide to load the disk and see what this was all about. I was greeted with a title logo and a very simple text-based interface. ...Well, I don't want to spoil it because I thought it would be more fun to create a thread and we could do a quasi-Let's Play here in GBS. But I will give you this advice: Don't run around the pool! I learned this lesson the hard way. (Thanks to the mods, btw, for letting me do this. I hope we won't die too quickly, making it all for naught.) So, without further adieu, I present Moments: ![]() I'll go ahead and load up a new game. The instructions are spooky: ![]() ![]() And then the game begins. ![]() ![]() So what will it be, goons? What option should we choose? Sorry for the quality of some of these pics, a lot of stuff happened very quickly. I tried D. ![]() It immediately said "Rebooting..." across the bottom of the screen in which it added more periods to the end and the characters started changing randomly in spots. Then it added a string of numbers to the end: ![]() Then it went blank. When it came back it looked like this: ![]() So the three options had changed and there was now a new option, option D. So I figured I had already gone this far, why not select it since it seems to be what everyone was hoping for? Besides the strange screen wipe and all the bizarre characters, it looks like we got exactly what we were hoping for. Still... odd. ![]() ![]() --- Page 185: ![]() ![]() --- Page 189: ![]() ![]() --- Page 193: ![]() ![]() ![]() --- Page 196: ![]() ![]() --- Page 203: I was ready for it this time when I hit D, but I missed the initial "Rebooting" part. It reboot again and then all was back to its regular programming, with a new option: ![]() ![]() --- Page 207: ![]() ![]() --- Page 211: ![]() ![]() ![]() --- Page 214: ![]() ![]() --- Page 218: ![]() ![]() --- Page 222: ![]() ![]() --- Page 225: ![]() ![]() ![]() --- Page 228: ![]() ![]() --- Page 233: ![]() ![]() --- Page 237: ![]() ![]() --- Page 243: ![]() ![]() ![]() --- Page 248: ![]() ![]() --- Page 252: ![]() ![]() --- Page 257: ![]() ![]() --- Page 262: ![]() ![]() ![]() --- Page 265: ![]() ![]() --- User prinneh does a voice recording of the first choice, ala Computer Phone circa 1983. My lucky number is 47, and Room 403 both starts with a 4 and has digits that add up to 7. Pick Room 403! EDIT: Since it's easy to bold things now, I'm gonna use the new forum features to say A) Room 403.

Gonna have to go with Room 409, after my favorite cleanser.

I'll go ahead and make the obvious joke and imply that room 404 is probably somehow missing. Room 403 (the forbidden room!) is the next closest so I'd go with that. A) Room 403

Oh yes, bolded helps quite a bit for seeing votes. Let's practice our shortcut keys, everyone.

Room 409 is the farthest away from the rest of the rooms. Room 409 must be the room where rich babies are born.

Man I am all about creepy games from the 80s. The 80s were hella spooky! Going for room 409, because it's closest to Room 429, which is my favourite Cop Shoot Cop song, and I will be basing all of my decisions henceforth on my lovely musical preferences.

Also going to go with B) Room 404. This really seems reminiscent of Alter Ego, only several years older than that game!

Wasn't there a browser game very similar to this about 5 or so years ago? It seems very familiar as a concept. And Room 404 can't steer us wrong.
