I like that the only thing Karl knows about is straight weed. The concept of Edibles completely blew his mind.

I loved that he evidently only gets gutter weed, and yet is part of a conspiracy with other more highly developed dealers to invent a fake boss.

They snuck into the back yard and then heard a noise so they ran to their car. As they were running out, a guy who I guess house sits the place saw them and asked them to wait up. He then told them if they wait there while he goes and gets tacos then he will give them a tour of the house. That's awesome. Where exactly is the house?

Was there a time when Adam said "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-" and it went to commercial break and came back with "-UUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK"? That was a great part. Also, is there any way to see the episodes without the bleeps?

Yeah, I think it's that same episode because isn't he in pajamas during this part? It's when Alice gets the e-mail that he's going to get fired and he hears about it. The season 1 & 2 combo blu ray is uncensored but honestly the show is ever so slightly less funny with the curse words said out loud. There's something about the bleeping that makes it funnier.

One of my favorite scenes is Adam talking to the young girls and their mom at the Amateur Model place in the mall. Besides Ray Wise and his closeted homosexuality, which is also awesome-- love Ray Wise-- this scene offers one of my favorite and most quotable moments. "You're using butthole out of context, making everybody feel all weird!" I love all the guys, but Adam is definitely my favorite.

Juanito posted:This was the same for Reno 911, the later seasons on DVD were uncensored, and a lot of the swearing was less funny without the bleeping. I seem to recall a lot of people who were unhappy without the bleeping. Well for Reno the main problem, for me at least, was the goof was it was a mocumentary thing, so having them just say 'gently caress' felt kinda weird on its own. Yea, though, bleeps can actually be way funnier than the words, especially in 'real style' shows like this.

I think the theory is that as a culture we find the word to be more effective at whatever its trying to evoke when it is actively made taboo, when the word is said uncensored it kind of takes all of its shock power away.

I think it's true for almost every show, South Park being a rare exception, since it's so funny to hear the 3rd (or 4th) graders swear. Glitterbomber posted:Yea, though, bleeps can actually be way funnier than the words, especially in 'real style' shows like this. Agreed, on that note: Arrested Development has a 20 second bleep that would not be funny at all if it were uncensored. The pilot is uncensored, and it's really jarring to hear George Bluth say "gently caress". Also, they ended up making another joke from the bleeping-- they found new and inventive ways to hide their mouths when they cursed, so that was hilarious in its own right. I hate censored stand-up comedy, though, especially when it obfuscates the joke.

FrensaGeran posted:See: Kat Williams (any special) That's basically whom I had in mind when I wrote that. His censored specials seems like the bleeps are equal to the regular dialogue in frequency! But it applies, to a lesser-- but still legitimate-- extent, to most comedians. Patton Oswalt: "Dr Seuss on an angry (bleep) hunt, strap-in" not nearly as funny as Patton Oswalt: "Dr Seuss on an angry pussy hunt, strap-in"

In a similar vein (but totally different show) The Soup does a great job of modifying context on usually bleep-able words and making them non-bleepable. Joel McHale really sells the gag and it's hilarious. Preface: I'm at a client so I can't watch these videos right now but I'm assuming they're the ones I'm thinking of. If not, sorry!
