The cynic in me wasn't expecting this episode to trump the pilot/premier (put your best foot forward and all that) but that cynic was destroyed. We're in another animation Renaissance like the late-80s, early 90s and it is good.

Yeah, I just got to watch the premier tonight and this show is wonderful. I'm really excited about it.

Kristen Schaal just makes everything 10x funnier automatically, I think. This show is basically X-Files/Twin Peaks meets Courage the Cowardly Dog and I. LOVE. IT.

Absolutely loving the second episode. I'm not sure I stopped laughing the whole way through. I think Mabel's hamster ball fantasy was my favorite thing about the episode.

So majestic.

The camera total count-down gag was the funniest, but "In retrospect it seems a bit contrived" was the best line. This is a really funny show.

I'm not good at finding secrets. I tried to figure out what the code that Gruncle Stan entered into the vending machine at the end of the first episode, but it turns out that the button panel didn't have enough buttons to be real.

I love things like the way Dipper & Mabel both punch each other in the arm when they're excited about the monster roar on the island. It's on screen so briefly and isn't really a gag, but it adds a lot of humor and it's a great realistic sibling thing to do.

The fake IDs were the best joke in this episode (which I expected to be weaker based on its slot in the release lineup, and was, but was still crazy funny).

I'm surprised by the gratuitous use of the words "murder" and "kill" considering they usually use "destroy" instead.

Also, I would be happy if every once and a while Larry King's head shows up and offers advice.

I'm both surprised and disappointed this a TV-Y7 rating. They get away with a lot of stuff like Sascrotch (Hey Arnold would raise a stink for using 'crap' in the 90s) and Mabel being surprisingly flirty towards older men (look, don't touch). It's disappointing given the late-night timeslot and the fact Disney runs TV-PG shows like My Babysitter's a Vampire. It's great and it toes the line but could be so much more if Disney wasn't afraid of giving a premier cartoon a PG rating for once.

I thought the "Hey, why is there nothing in my had?" joke with Groucho Marx was a pretty funny jab at Standards and Practices.

We even have a love life!

I refuse to believe this show is aimed at children. What the hell sort of 7-12 year old would even know who Coolio is, much less why it's funny that it's so unbelievable that a wax figure was made of him?

Seriously this show would not be out of place in the FOX Sunday lineup (but behind years 2-9 of The Simpsons). "Wax John Wilkes Booth, was that you?!" was some golden age of The Simpsons level of intelligent humor.

Holy goddamn this show is amazing.

Dolash

Pickle: Inspected.

Sup, Holmes?

I must also agree that the cavalier talk of death and murder took me by surprise. I guess wax people don't count, but there was something unsettling about how Mable paused in her post-battle clean-up to ask Shakespeare for a limerick, and when it bored her she tossed his head screaming into the fire. It's a little impressive they got away with it, and the twins notch up an unambiguously life-or-death victory.

On another note, John Oliver as Sherlock was great, sounded great, and had some great lines. It was even a good pick for the plot since Dipper had wanted to prove he was a capable detective and he ends up taking on literature's most famous one. This show is an all-around treat and I look forward to seeing more.

He's pretty easy to find on Facebook, plus imgur is being a bitch. The co-worker and I were talking about how bizarre it is that someone our age that she grew up with is so much more successful than us. It's a bit depressing honestly.

On the plus side this show is fantastic, and Mabel kills it every episode.

I HATE THAT HEDGEHOG, BROTHER!

Every second they were in the biker bar was fantastic. The jokes were funny (Mabel's "He's resting" killed me, as did the fortune telling part) and there was a lot of funny background stuff. The tattoos on the bouncer that said HEAD and CHIN. The PAIN belt. The neon sign that just said NEON. "Can you beat Biceptikus?" The jacket that said SCARE-O DACTYLS.

Basically anything Mabel DOES is great, and I love how well they nail the siblings thing like how Mabel keeps hitting or punching Dripper in the arm when she's excited. Also Ducktective was great.

Disney has got a real winner on their hands here. I really hope they treat it well.

Oh yeah and you sneeze like a kitten!

Yeah, and he was holding something this time, but you can't really tell what it is. I think it's interesting that they've only put him in shots where McGucket is the main action. It's probably coincidence since McGucket's a gag character, but it'd be cool if they were setting up links between the minor roles for some deeper twist.
