I'm sort of personal to "let slip the dongs of war" myself. It has a nice (cock) ring to it.

I still think Military Members is the best. It's so innocent sounding you could keep it at work if you were so inclined. The cover should be something ordinary but vaguely phallic, being the military that shouldn't be hard.

As soon as someone tells me where to buy this, it shall be done. Two copies, probably. One for me to keep, and fondly remember days spent being blindingly immature while in the navy, and one to give as a gag gift to a gay friend of mine who is gonna be getting married in the next year.

Oxford Comma posted:Here you go: http://imgur.com/a/UHfzm That's beautiful. So I just got back from an NTC rotation. There was a saddening lack of good dick drawings in the porta-potties. I made up for it with the following. My battalion S4 opened his notebook to find this crude yet effective piece. ![]() Me being the kind of AS3 I am, he suspected I had done it. I hadn't. He retaliated with a cock that stretched over thirty pages in my own notebook. Once I established that it clearly wasn't me as it wasn't up to my artistic standard, I went on to show him what did measure up over the course of the rotation. No context needed. ![]() Another angle. ![]() I had intended to make a flip book, but quickly lost motivation due to ![]() Then, I had an epiphany. ![]() Later, I was inspired by thoughts of crusaders and Saracens. ![]() Growing tired of warlike imagery, I drew a nice domestic scene. Just a dickman and his cockshund. ![]() When planning an air assault mission, we had a couple flight warrants stay with us from the aviation battalion to assist the plans process. An old CW4 who used to be an infantryman requested this one. ![]() The 1LT in my shop made his own found art sculpture. ![]() ![]() It was a productive training rotation. Does anyone know how much it would cost to make like 50 of these? I know I wouldn't have trouble getting rid of then on SA, but I don't know where to look that isn't e-publishing.

If you're talking hardcover and stuff it can easily climb into the high hundreds. There's a local publishing place that's primarily used for thesis printing and dissertations and the prices they charge are pretty outrageous, but apparently the norm for the business. If you aren't printing many, many copies you get hosed.

The cheapest option is probably going to be Blurb...it's not super cheap but like Vas said doing this anywhere brick and mortar is going to get insane expensive just because of the relatively limited printing run. e: And just briefly playing around at Blurb's site you're probably looking at $25-$30 a pop to make a reasonably professional looking coffee table book (hard cover, satin-ish photo pages, etc), and that's including the 30% discount you get for ordering 50+...less than that and prices start going up. Obviously it's cheaper if you start skimping on stuff like that, but I kind of thought the whole point was to make something that at least at a glance looked like a legitimate coffee table book. iyaayas01 fucked around with this message at Dec 25, 2012 around 21:50 |

I was bored and made a rough draft of the book on Blurb. I needed a title and some generic input because second opinions are always nice. Like should the pics be annotated, what should be on the front cover, if anything, how nice the paper should be. Also they have their logo on the bottom of the last page but we can upload our own. If anybody has something that we can use for that, I'll throw it in.

Is any serious printing company going to actually publish a book full of crudely drawn cocks and balls? Either way, I'm down for at least 2 copies as long as they're not exorbitantly priced.

Doesn't look like it can be shared. It's 48 pages because I left out some of the crappier images. The resolution on some of the pics isn't that great either and it's forced some of the pics to be kinda small. I have the first page set up as the Lovecraftian cock that Nillerz posted alongside gleep's quote from last page. Then lots of dicks and the tramp stamp adorns the back cover.

That's the whole point of going the self printing route...they will literally print anything you want (provided it isn't something blatantly illegal like "schematics for building my al-Qaeda nuclear bomb" or a copyright violation or whatever). Are you thinking any text to accompany any of the pictures? I was thinking it might be a decent space filler on the pages where the pics are kind of small...not like paragraphs of stuff, just a sentence or two of some funny dick related joke or comment in an ~artsy~ font, like size 20 or whatever so it fills the empty space on the page. Also do you have a block on each page for location/person who submitted it/etc? I think location at a minimum would be amusing just so we can show how dicks are universal around the world with the military.

Problem with the location/person part is that a majority of the pictures come from 3 or 4 group sets so we'd have the same thing repeated throughout the book. I can annotate the first one in the set but the rest would be left alone.

As far as the logo for the bottom of the last page, Dunson or Chowdown seem like the obvious choices. Did we ever reach a consensus on a title? It seems like some variation on "Dongs of War" is pretty popular. What do you have for a working cover? Also if this actually happens I'm crediting it as a GiP Christmas Miracle.
