I think one of the fortresses (Ripewhips) succumbed either to the goblins or a Forgotten Beast disease.

A common trend in world gen is goblins getting assimilated into dorf civilizations and then massively outbreeding them, resulting in a 'dwarven' civ that contains no dwarves.

Pretty sure that's a factor in what's going on.

And yeah, getting a time-lapse would be cool. Especially a stonesense time lapse, though it would be pretty big.

Here is a fun fact: apparently weather (including mists) is random and disregards the random seeds. This means that even embarking in exactly the same location at exactly the same time with exactly the same worldgen does not allow you to find out in advance what kind of weather you'll have (or what it will do).

Consequently, I actually don't know (yet) what our mist does. Your guess is as good as mine. I hope it's interesting!

I know that the game generates a set of mists ahead of time and then picks from those.

So if you set the mist types pretty low, you can get a good idea of what to expect.

I'm finding it very hard to tell what is going on in the outdoors shots. I am just too used to the default settings. Spot the murk is pretty hard when it is homogeneous green on homogeneous green when your usual terms of reference don't apply.

That's not how they work. Corpse resurrection is an inherit trait of all evil biomes. What type of weather you get depends on the region. Some of them have multiple weather types. One of my last evil biome embarks had half-elf blood rain and heinous fog.

EDIT: Unless that actually isn't the case, the wiki isn't entirely clear. Still, if Bronzestabbed is in an evil biome that is merely sinister and has not resurrecting corpses it is the wimpiest, most pathetic hell hole ever. The murk might no even do anything.

It's possible not to get corpse resurrection. I've set up shop in an evil biome where it constantly rained human blood, but with no other negative effects - which was a bit of a disappointment.

So I'm a miner/milker. I guess I can deal with being half-useless. Do I have any interesting relatives?

I'd like to propose a ramp system for use in the fortress minecarts as a bovine delivery mechanism.

Upper level:
▓▲▼▼+▼▼+▼▼+▼
Lower level
▓▓▲▲▓▲▲▓▲▲▓▲+++╬++╤╥@

Put caged cows in minecarts on a Z+6 upper level (with a series of rollers) and give them a push down. The beef will be delivered to the dining room in record time.

What's with the /\/\/\/\/\ series of ramps? Well, how else are we going to have milkshakes?

Reconstructed from engravings on the underside of several rock thrones crafted in Bronzestabbed. Style of engraving is consistent with other samples from The Archivist, but dictation by Dismab 'Tunicate' Calledtool is considered the most likely origin by modern historians.

... has deconstructed Mr. In honor of event I have composed lyrics in traditional style.

There once was an overseer craven
Who could not read instructions engraven
So he went with an axe
To disable pump-stacks
And next day awoke quite clean-shaven!

Bikindok was only in band for a few practices. He either had a pet peafowl or conversed about pet peafowl enough to convince that he did. He had natural ability for music but little linguistic ability or comprehension of the world around him. We therefore made him drummer.

In honor of dead bandmate I have constructed a dirge in the traditional poetic form.

There once was a dwarf Bikindok
Who loved to expose his peacock
He embarked one night
And went out of sight
A mason should never leave rock

I will not perform this music as I do not think it proper. Everyone in the band is a mason and the music played is nevertheless not the music of masons.

We need more rocks in our music.
