Best ending. I did that the first time I played.

Gentlemen. Welcome to Dubai.

That line reading was perfect.

Woo, just beat it.

Overall a very good game. Really the perfect length, I think ~9 hours is just enough for this story. Exactly what was real and how much in Walker's head will probably never totally make sense and I think that's a great way to handle it. Also excellent in its use of mechanics--I swear things got more shootery with the exploding barrels popping up, ultimate guns turning up &c. as Walker became more delusional. I wish I had any kind of experience with the Modern Warfare/Battlefield games whatsoever as I definitely get the feeling the game was referencing both.

For being such an ugly, dorky-looking gun I sure ended up using the P90 a whole lot without ever once using the tactical scope, just because I kept running out of ammo and it was there a lot.

You get another one if you die before rescuing Adams in the boat graveyard.

If I remember right, it's another whited-out shot of Konrad between two skyscrapers, with the words "Stop! Just loving stop!" looping faintly in the background.

Yeah, I downloaded it, sat down and beat it in 4 hours on the easiest difficulty.

It's an interesting game experience for sure, and well worth the price of free/a few hours of your time.

Is the Co-op any good? I'm sure that it's not even close to the level of the main game but is it at least fun? Does it have any sort of story?

I was skeptical of typical goon hype, though the fact that Yahtzee gave it a glowing review (and GOTY, I think) did a lot to sway me, but I still didn't really want to pay for it.

Now that I've played it due to the PS+ deal, though, I would have gladly paid $40 for it. Holy poo poo. Not just amazing for all the stated reasons, but very high quality graphically and gameplay-wise (but I never play shooters so for all I know it's just standard in that department).

I knew I was in for something good when the opening narration had Mogwai's "I Chose Horses" playing in the background.

It is surprisingly visually stunning. Setting it in the most opulent city in the world, and then dumping sand on it, was a very controversial but ultimitely very pretty decision.

What I like about the shooting is how mechanical it feels. The shooting isn't incredibly smooth or realistic, but very by-the-numbers and straightforward. Exactly what one would expect from another MMS. It plays incredibly well into the meta level on which Spec Ops works.

I remember the first time I saw this commercial I was all "gently caress YEAH WHATEVER THIS IS I WANT IT".

...and then the game's logo appeared. Oh. Oh no.

edit: Just played through again last night to get the Intel I missed, and this time I turned the SFX down and the music way up. There are actually four Black Angels songs in the game. I haven't felt this weird and good about a game's soundtrack since that one big-studio baseball game which inexplicably had Belle and Sebastian and tons of other fey indie bands in it.

e2: The wiki page, however, only lists two Black Angels songs, but I kept count - it has "The First Vietnam War", "Bad Vibrations", "Snake in the Grass" (I think - it's a song off their second album, at any rate) and one other one. They've been my favorite Bay-area stoner rock band for 5 years so I don't think I'm hallucinating. (Or maybe I am).

I also totally didn't notice "R U Still In 2 It". Jesus, I hope the guys who made this make many more games and history remembers it as "that one military shooter that didn't loving suck for non-fans of the genre".

Now finished it twice and seen all endings except 'Welcome to Dubai.'

I can quite honestly say no other game I've ever played has kicked me in the guts so hard or repeatedly as this did.

My first playthrough I got the white loading screen towards the end and honestly thought it was the end of the game and the absolute perfect way to end it, then I saw the real ending and was utterly floored. That time I chose to die fighting the american rescue squad. Walker got what he deserved.

I found it really interesting the way there were a couple of repeated lines throughout the game.
"Gentlemen, welcome to Dubai."
"You brought this on yourself." This line in particular I thought completely summed up the theme of the game.

Are there any community patches for this? having two major issues with it at the moment:

1) The motion blur. There's no way to turn it off in game and it's really bad, the the point of giving me a headache.

2) The framerate. Even on the lowest settings, it's chugged so far (although I've barely started, so maybe it gets better after the opener), even on my computer that runs Far Cry 3 on the highest settings without a hitch.

I'd really love to sink in to this, as it's come highly recommended. But these issues make it unplayable for me

I'm reasonably good at the game - died less on my Hard run than on my Normal - but the last major fight with the two HMGs makes me quiver in my boots.

Oh well, I've got nothing to do this weekend anyway. Might as well get that last achievement.

I loved this game and replayed it a bunch of times. I completed FUBAR but it really was an exercise in frustration. Contrary to most people here, I enjoyed the game-play. My first playthrough was on Veteran, and it made the later parts feel very appropriately purgatorial. You definitely would lose out on that on Easy.

As I found when I did it on hard, the HMG on the right can be silenced. Kill the first guy and another pops up, kill him, another, there are four in total. Use the 417 with scope on, as long as you have your aim directly in the right spot the next will run to that exact point.
