Yes, but that thread just sent us over here, soooo.
Honestly I think TradGames would find a thread regarding minority issues more useful than Games did. For one thing, it wouldn't just be people bitching about whether or not someone else's game is respectful of this group or that one, but rather how we can make the RPGs we make and run ourselves more welcoming to people who don't share our exact level of privilege, so rather than being condemning it would ultimately be a more constructive line of discussion. Also, if it's not in its own thread we're just gonna discuss it in grognards.txt anyway, because being sensitive to the emotional needs of others and therefore being better than other people is a topic that resonates with the Traditional Games crew. We're gonna be talking about it, so why not give it it's own thread? Finally, I'm super interested on rkajdi's effortpost on imperialism and traditional RPG settings. |

Honestly, I'd be willing to do it anyway as its own thread (shockingly has only a small amount to do with traditional feminism), but I'm worried about getting the thread locked after a bunch of effort or getting a ban over opening it. |

I can't speak for the other mods but I'll explain why I personally don't want to deal with it.
First, I find threads like that especially difficult to moderate. If a discussion starts in a specific game thread, I immediately know what the topic is and when the discussion turns into fullblown derail and I can pretty easily determine who needs to be punished. When it has it's own thread like that, and this goes the same for the Minority Views thread of past, I have to read pages upon pages to identify what the gently caress is going on when dozens of reports come in. I have to start differentiating between fake posts, funny posts, legit posts, and poo poo posts. Games gets a ton of reports per day, sometimes more than GBS, and when I find that I'm spending most if not all of my time reading a single thread trying to find out what the hell is going on, I don't really have a lot of time left to take care of the poo poo that happens in all of the other threads in Games and the rest of it's subforums. Second, from what I've seen, it's the same arguments and points being made by what appear to be the same people. I don't see any real effort to go about making changes in the gaming industry though. I just see the same points, the same arguments, and the same trolls over and over and over. I know that intelligent discussions are fantastic to have and I know that there are definitely valid points in what some of you are saying, but there are 1500 other people looking at Games as well that don't share your opinion and it becomes toxic and hostile and the worst in people really do start to come out. I applaud anyone that wants to make a real effort and campaign to take care of problems they see with games in general, but I think until that time comes, just talking about it in Games itself is a moot point and I think it's better discussed in somewhere designed for that type of discussion like D&D. |

And then the D&D feminism thread is sorta hostile to this topic of discussion. Which, I can understand. There are a lot more important issues to discuss.
I'd just like a place to talk about how to run a game that is as least sexist/racist/etc as possible and for people to talk about their experiences with that in games. It won't change the world, but it will change people's small corner of the world. I do also respect that the mods don't want to deal with this poo poo. There's been a topic on RPGnet that's been crazy about this topic for the last few days. I'm pretty sure the only reason that's been left open is that we have a Pocket Mod over on RPGnet (who is totally awesome, thanks Kai). So, yeah, it just feels kinda no win to me. |

Attention bigots, this is literally surprise sex:
Essentially, your bog-standard D&D session is a facet of surprise sex culture: a bunch of men (and perhaps one or two sexualized women) descend into dark depths to penetrate the underprivileged, poor denizens there with their phallic objects, and use their mysterious, privilege-generated powers to oppress and kill anyone who isn't like them. As if violence for violence's sake wasn't bad enough.
