"Iran is now telling the world that in order to confront aggression from America and Israel, it must have nuclear weapons.

Official Iranian media outlets published a commentary Sunday titled “The necessity for the Islamic world to have the atomic bomb,” laying the groundwork for Iran’s refusal to accept limits on its illicit nuclear program."

Just lovely, now after insisting for months/years its only enriching the materials for peaceful purposes Iran has suddenly decided that having the bomb is a good idea and a right.

Is Iran really a cartoon villian? How can they think this will end well? Are thewy going to wake up this morning to a country filled with bomb craters?

Fun for the whole loving family!

Sheikh of the Couch

I'm sorry, a random writer and analyst is not the state of Iran.

I mean, really? an Op-ed in an iranian newspaper is the same as a government statement to you?

The pursuit of excellence.

It's a opinion piece run by the major newspapers by someone who doesn't hold an official office.

No different then the thousands of awful remarks made by former governors in the US which get published by every major newspaper through AP/Reuters.

If I was Iranian I would want nukes too.

An opinion piece. Not official policy. Anyone want to give odds that it is used to "rouse the base" around the supreme leader.

Also, I'm not too bothered by Iran having nukes. I'm just not. Israel has them, Pakistan has them, and there may be a few floating around in various private hands since the fall of the USSR, and yet nobody has tossed them off yet.
