I am on the revert side of things, but I am pretty happy with how things are working using rawillkill's userscript in conjunction with Fancy Forums.

I'll join the revert side. Used the new style for the past 7 hours, now I have an extension for changing it back and it already feels "normal".

http://stylebot.me/styles/2010 or http://the-magi.us/sa.html Take your pick of solution My solution (the first) will not cause any visible changes when you load the page, it's instant. The second solution you will see a flash of the new layout until everything is loaded and then it changes.

Then go back to SA and refresh the page. If you're using Firefox I forget what you need to use. I think it's Stylish. Not 100% sure https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/

The things you listed are immediately what jump out to me as not so good, as well as the new forum navigation for each page (breadcrumbs? I don't know what its called.) Having to open a menu just to navigate the forums isn't very intuitive, but maybe I just need to get used to it.

I'm leaning toward keeping it in line with the new design. I wouldn't object to bringing back the old breadcrumbs, though.

I'd like to see it kept in line with the new design as well, though bringing back the breadcrumbs and fixing some of the layout issues (like the buttons for Report/Quote and Post/Reply not lining up properly would be brilliant. Also, I'd like to see the page navigation buttons fixed to be more more like the ones found in articles on the main site, or at least so they say First, Prev, Next and Last again.

The new forum style looks quite good, it's just that whoever designed it seems to think it's still 2001 and we all have 1280x1024 screen resolutions. Something that keeps the new style intact but fixes the full screen width issue would be all I'd really need.

Thirded. I can't deal with these wide pages, it's killing my eyes. My only complaints about the redesigned forum are that I don't like the 1 # ? buttons under poster avatar/text and the "Filter Posts" dropdown at the top of forum pages runs the width of the page instead of just the text.

After messing around with some css modification of my own of the new layout, I think just adapting Fancy SA to the new layout would be fine. Now hopefully the new Fancy doesn't take too long, I don't want to use my crappy substitute for too long.

Let me know what you all think, and if you see any bugs. Edit: First posts in YOSPOS are still indented, but not in the regular forums. I'll probably post a new version with fixes for today's bugs late this evening, if my real job doesn't get in the way. kapinga fucked around with this message at Jan 7, 2013 around 15:06 |

Here's a small SA old stylesheet fix from Magus42. http://the-magi.us/sa.html Only problem now is that they're changed the management of the different areas of the site so User CP is gone, but the front page link is visible.

Is there a way to simply narrow the width of the forums like FancySA does but preserves the original header? I don't like how FancySA gets rid of the link to my User CP.

The Third Man posted:Is there a way to simply narrow the width of the forums like FancySA does but preserves the original header? I don't like how FancySA gets rid of the link to my User CP. That's something brand new that they did with SA as a whole. They switched User CP and Something Awful so you see SA now instead when you use Fancy, and it's why things looks really cluttered.

I had that problem with the link missing. It turned out to be a problem with my ad block extension. I fixed it by disabling it, refreshing an SA tab, then re-enabling it.

Here's another update for the Firefox extension. The biggest fix is that the control panel displays in the nav bar properly again. I'm slowly working on YOSPOS, but quotes and buttons are still ugly, sorry. The forums are in flux and this is definitely second to my real job, so things can definitely break from day-to-day. I'll try to keep on top of them, but there's only so much I can pay attention. As to the Chrome extension, I've not heard anything from abraham linksys/anal volcano either, so I don't know what's going on there. I'm trying to keep my changes easily ported over, but I won't be able to update the extension's chrome page without him. As to going fixed width without the rest of the redesign, it's easy to do but I don't really want to waste my time with two versions. The User Control Panel link is definitely not supposed to be missing, as I use it all the time too.
