Horizontal Tree posted:Finally rearranged my computer space, so now I can use my whole mousepad. Instead of sitting rotated 90*, and then having part of my keyboard on it, its now rotated properly and unhindered. Dropped my DPI a little more, and its amazing. I can track targets much smoother than before, since I can go a lot further without lifting my mouse. That is me, sorry I was a bit too drunken to really give a good duel, but it was a good time, and I hope I didn't talk your ear off too much. Even if I were more on top of my game I am still not much of a dueler as I tend to play Raider or Jug and just wreck bases and give the enemy teams defense hell and draw them out to make it easier for my teams pathfinders for flag grabs. Kills? Who cares! Being a base wrecking distraction and clearing things out is my typical approach. It was still a good time to play with you, and I am down to do it again, for better or worse, it was fun.

Its cool man, it was fun! Got me wanting to play a little more raider, which I haven't in quite a long time. Dust Devil is fun. Base wrecking is an important job that too many people ignore. I hate when I'm the only one attacking the the whole dstack stomps on my dick

The idea of Tribes Ascend 2 gives me such ridiculously mixed emotions. On the one hand it would give them the opportunity to make mechanical and infrastructure changes that they have refused / been unable to do thus far. It could honestly be made into a competitive game this time around. The studio has only made a few games and even with smite it seems like they are learning as they go. I guarantee they don't release 2 overpowered weapons in a row again and give all of their new players the "p2w" scent. On the other hand I can see them butchering it horribly and killing what little magic T:A manages to have. Definitely wouldn't look forward to another multi-month grind to unlock a bunch of F2P poo poo.

Part of me really hopes that a decent studio makes a good offer for the intellectual property, and makes an effort to make the Tribes game Ascend should have been... or Hi-Rez accepts their mistakes, tries to start over, and make T:A2 the way T:A should have been. Faster, 100% inheritance, more jets, etc. They really did abandon the game for Smite, which I don't really think is going to go anywhere. They're trying to break into a pretty saturated market (MOBAs) using the gods as heroes gimmick, but I don't think they'll be able to make a big dent in the LoL and DOTA playerbases. They had a very unique game with a ton of potential, that they abandoned for something less so, imo. gently caress if I don't love and enjoy the game, and will until it is truly dead, but it could also be a better game.

That is the reason why the Tribes community is so hard on Hi-Rez. Even in its current state the game has so much potential, as a fan of the game it is really frustrating to watch Hi-Rez sit back and squander so many great opportunities.

Hi-rez has a really bad habit of abandoning their projects and I'm beginning to wonder if they are even capable of supporting something fully instead of just half-assing it and switching to something else. At this point I fully expect Hi-rez to get halfway through Smite and ditch it for GA2. Maybe once GA2 is half-way finished they'll dump it and start on T:A2.

I honestly think theres still time for them to save T:A from full death if they just start putting in a lot of effort, putting out new content, and really pushing the comp side of things.

To give themselves a huge player boost they just need to release some loving map tools or invite a bunch of t1/2 map makers to make them some maps that aren't awful. Every time I play and Blue Shift comes up half the server just leaves and the remaining players spend the whole match screwing around until it gets capped out.

I still maintain that while HiRez didn't do the best job they don't deserve as much negative criticism as they get. The fact that I am playing a current Tribes game in 2013 with well populated servers just about 24/7 and the game is actually pretty good makes me happy. They do need to release some weapons and maps or map making tools and come out with more skins and voice packs and the like that while I probably wouldn't buy myself, would bring in more cash for minimal effort some people are bound to buy. In regards to neglecting Tribes in favor of Smite it's like if Apple just went "You know what? Iphones? Ipads? Yeah, not making any more of those, moving on to our new windows emulation software, sounds good right?". I like windows, but we already have that. Edit - I Just had a pretty amazing game with Tree on the 24/7 Stonehenge server, with both of us going back and forth for first and dominating though we weren't near each other most of the match. The real thing that made it for me was a nearly half map max range completely blind Jug FMD shot over the middle structure that was 50% skill 50% luck to kill the flag carrier. It wasn't a game changing shot, as the two of us were tearing it up pretty well anyhow. But it was one of the more amazing and lucky shots I have made and I wish I had it recorded. It is those moments that make me enjoy Tribes so much. Twenty Four fucked around with this message at May 24, 2013 around 10:23 |

That was a good one. Until Immune came in, nobody on their team was really doing much to kill us unless they all teamed up. You and I were the only ones on O for a while in the beginning, but I swapped over to D when everyone started gen-humping on our side and just killing them as they came in. Sometimes its awesome, and sometimes its frustrating to be dominating a team and then having a pro come in and wipe the floor with you. The next game I was in one of those one-hour tons of caps servers on kata, and it started half full but then filled out completely. I got over 60 kills and was getting air mails left and right. Was chasing one of the guys I PUG'd with the other day and had some amazing shots on him. Swooped in at the last moment and air mail nitron'd him right next to his stand, it was rad. I think I was top on kills going back and forth between O and D. Pathfinder dueling out all 3-4 guys on offense, then just having them respawn and come right back at me was awesome. Constant stream of people to kill!
