I would love to know more about how you maintain that food budget. I'm 27, 6'3, and 160 lbs. I spend nearly 15$-25$ on food every day in order to eat "healthy". I spend more on food a month than I do on rent as a result. How can I maintain a good level of nutrition, caloric intake, and enjoyability without breaking the bank so much. I was never educated about food or cooking so I have just been flying by the seat of my pants.

As Vice President Joe Biden greeted new and returning senators on Thursday on Capitol Hill, he was all smiles. “There’s a lot to smile about today,” he said as he caressed the face of one of the attendees.

Throughout the ceremony, Biden took center stage, greeting senators, children, babies and mothers with hugs, kisses, pats on the back and fist bumps.

“Spread your legs, you’re gonna be frisked,” he said to the family of Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND). He later made this offer to relatives of Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC): “If you need any help with your pecs, let me know.”

I hope you all don't hate me too much for this, but all the bike chat made me want to find out just how many people die or get injured in bicycle accidents. I was able to find this study: http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/pubs/811156.pdf

The gist was :

As a California bay area resident I have some strong opinions about bicyclists. I also use my bicycle to get around, and it totally sucks. It's difficult merging my opinions about how other bicyclists behave on the road and how I want to be safe to drive my bike to work.

An example. Every day I see cyclists completely ignore traffic law. Stop signs, stop lights, cross walks, turn signals, the whole 9 yards. In the US cars and bike's are legally the same. This upsets me and makes me not give two shits if they get hit by a car. On the other hand when I am out riding my bike and some rear end in a top hat is using the bike lane as a parking space, I get just as upset. It does seem there is a lack of mutual respect among cyclists and drivers. I think the right answer is to separate bicycle routes from car routes. My city has actually closed off a few side streets from car access to allow bike thoroughfares. It works pretty well, but it can still be a challenge if your route doesn't go along those streets. The frontage roads between towns also have bike paths that follow the road off to the side by 10-15 feet. The bike road itself is about one regular lane wide and has a center divide to separate cross traffic.

What I am trying to say is, Bike safety shouldn't be this difficult.

The findings from this paper indicate that while bicycle helmet laws are widespread and thought to be effective, the net effect of these laws on health outcomes is actually not straight-forward. It is clear that there are offsetting behaviors and unintended consequences of these 21 laws, and these effects need to be considered by policymakers.

It seems to me after doing a brief reading, that while there is a definite decrease in the number of children hurt, it may be resulting in less people riding bikes. I say it is worth it.

http://www.kbzk.com/news/tertelgte-found-guilty-by-jury/#!prettyPhoto/0/

quote:

A Manhattan man was found guilty on two charges related to fishing without a license today in a trial that saw him being removed early in the trial in handcuffs.

Ernie Tertelgte, 52, represented himself against misdemeanor charges of obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest. Tertelgte faced a jury trial for two charges related to fishing without a license.

Before the jury was even selected, the 52-year-old man was removed from the courtroom after he objected multiple times to the proceedings.

Tertelgte then watched the court proceedings from a nearby room via video and remained handcuffed.

The charges against him stem from an Aug. 31 incident which a state game warden attempted to cite Tertelgte for fishing without a license at the Three Forks Pond, which is a state-managed area.

In court, FWP warden Adam Pankratz said Tertelgte refused to give him his name when approached. He was fishing with his 11-year-old son that day and the warden told the court he and a Three Forks police officer repeatedly tried to stop the situation from escalating, but Tertelgte refused to comply.

Tertelgte did not get a chance to cross examine witnesses.

Tertelgte was fined $150.
