I'd argue that Spelunky is a roguelike (albeit in non-turn-based platforming form) in pretty much all of the ways that I care about - novel item interactions, ultra-hostile random environments that you can use to your advantage once you know what you're doing, etc. I still think those ideas wouldn't actually add to the game. The only thing I'd like out of the game that isn't already there would be a greater variety of level modifiers.
