Never noticed one with 16 in the back though. Cool bike. But what the crap is up with your left kneecap? I have a basic black concor (the superleggera one with the aluminum rails). They get a little up in your poo poo compared to other saddles because they flex so much, but they are drat comfy if you're prepared for it. glyph fucked around with this message at Aug 9, 2012 around 11:39 |

I had 535s for awhile and never had any complaints until a spoke broke and the wheel immediately went out of true. I was only a half hour from home, luckily. Finding a replacement spoke was a bitch as well. They look cool though.

Thanks. I couldn't find the right shade of green derailleur cable housing, so I decided to go with a white/green mix.

If it's an '86, it's most likely an SR800 based on the colors available that year. Here's the 1986 Cannondale catalog: http://66.147.244.179/~vintagm8/year/1989/1989.pdf And here's how to decipher the serial number: http://www.vintagecannondale.com/info.html

Zenaida posted:What's the deal with the seatstays hitting the chainstays way forward of the dropouts on those old cannondales? They were called cantilever dropouts and they were designed so that Cannondale could utilize fat tubes on their seatstays and not worry about any interference with the cassette. Or so I have been told. Others have also mentioned that they tend to crack and fail, but I have yet to witness a cantilevered seatstay break.

I put together this little Hitachi Team Merckx for my girlfriend---ignore the long cables, I have to trim everything once I get the proper ferrules. The paint is rough but I think it looks pretty cool and it is really light as it is made from Reynolds 653 tubing. Does anyone know where I can get some race numbers? I have a bunch of bikes with the little number hanger braze-on underneath the top tube and I might as well use it for something.

I've been riding a lovely Mongoose mountain bike (probably something you'd get from Target for $100) and was getting tired of it. Friend of mine saw an ad on craigslist for this 1994 Schwinn 434 for $150. He told me to buy it, immediately, so I did. Guy said he had it hanging in his garage for about ~6 years. Friend checked out all the gears, chain, the whole shabang and told me it's a solid buy. I bought the pedals and lights. I would like to make it all black with black tape but I guess that may come later as that's just a cosmetic cost. This is my first road bike and while I do enjoy it, I have almost eaten it a few times while changing gears...I'm not really looking forward if/when it happens.

![]() Here is my old lady's commuter that I have sunk way too much time and money on after making a perfectly serviceable bike into a "project." Started life as a Raleigh Record 10 speed with a Heuret group set and friction stem shifters that I found on Craigslist for $100. I got some Velo Orange hammered fenders for it, and then it turns out, no bike newbie likes loving with stem mounted friction bullshit, so ~$80 went to a new mega range free wheel, Alivino rear dérailleur, new index hanger plate, and some Acera shifters to make a bar-shifting 14 speed. I was really happy when the Shimano shifter and the factory Heuret FD worked together. Add in costs for lights/reflectors, beer money for a friend to redish the rear wheel, streamers, the Wald rear rack and panieers, and it was about $250 all said and done for a grocery getter with a bit more flavor than a BD step through. It's a porker, but rides smoothly.

New MTB, first one in many years. Giant Reign 0. A hair under 30lbs in a size XL, could probably get 27 by replacing tires and that seatpost but I guess that's not really the point and the dropper post is cool. It's a good build kit (XT) and doesn't "need" anything but wider handlebars and better grips. Rides nice! ![]()
