So I talked with Panzer more about the Galactic Conquest tourney coming up, and he had the great idea to incorporate more people this time around. While I think the format can't handle much more than 10 slots, my thought was to run TWO separate tournaments, one for Masters/Diamond and another for the metal leagues. Start times would be staggered a little to make things run smoother.

While I have no problems organizing it, I wanted to open the idea up to anybody who might want to help contribute to the second metal league tourney. The biggest help would be generating a second prize pool, as I probably couldn't do that on my own. Additionally, if someone wanted to even take up the mantle of coordinating and scoring the tourney, I could clue you in on my SECRET METHODS.

A 2nd metal league tourney would be awesome. I've been in the prior tourneys but I always wound up sandwiched between masters from round one and was never really able to do anything but attempt one ill fated attack per day until I was eventually eliminated.

As a diamond player who used to be lower, diamond -> (mid-high) masters is a bigger jump in skill than silver -> diamond and I cry tears of futility every time we're included with masters/GM in separated tournaments. As this is NA I can't participate anyway but my heart goes out to all you diamond players out there. It really is the shittiest league.

I'd separate it further by league if by some miracle we got 10 master-level participants, but you gotta work with the resources you have etc. It's not all bad, though. A handful of Diamonds in the last tourney got pretty far, not least of all Yalmsteen who is now Terran A-Teamer. Trial by fire!

The format last time was like a weekly thing where you held different regions of space and could only attack people who had adjacent regions. It looked really fun but wasn't geared towards lower level players

It actually takes place over the course of 20 days. There are 10 rounds where players take turns attacking and defending territories and each round gives 48 hours for contestants to play. It sounds complicated but it will actually make a lot of sense once I upload the rules on the 22nd.

I used Typefrag for voice hosting for years, and I know they let you switch the number of slots pretty much on the fly, if you need more all of the sudden.
