I don't like the look of the new ED-209. It's way too busy with the kind of intricate detail that made the Transformers so difficult to visually parse. It also doesn't look like it has evolved from any particular design or utilitarian philosophy. The original had the sleek manufactured look of a new car, while this thing just looks complex for the sake of it. That said, I'll be very interested to see the remake. I reckon it could be a lot of fun if it's done with various tongues in cheeks. Good, snappy writing will be critical though.
