Remember everybody: HELL TEMPLE IS HELL I'm pretty excited for this remake, and I will probably buy it, wander around aimlessly for a couple hours and then give up in frustration, JUST LIKE LAST TIME. Still, looking forward to it.

Where the hell is the grail point in the Inferno Caverns? I can't find it anywhere. If I have to get to the entrance manually again I'm gonna freak out.

I loving hate the Inferno Cavern. I can't get anywhere without killing all my HP. I'm never gonna get the chain whip if I can't get to the subboss with more then like 20 health.

I just got it. Subboss before the chain whip room is still kicking my rear end though.

Control Volume posted:Oh man. Oh MAN. There's a software combination out there that boosts non-whip weapons and it absolutely trashes bosses like no other when you use the axe, and it's available as soon as you have access to fairies. I wish I had it before I had taken down 5 bosses, but whatever. Read on, interested parties!

I got in there, then got the Axe and with that combo killed the poo poo out of Ellmac. Get hosed guy. I've been exploring the Graveyard of Giants and the Gate of Illusion and I can't seem to find anything useful in either. Edit: Well, I found the illusion map and connected the graveyard to the gate, and found some warp points, but they don't seem to lead anywhere helpful. Also, I loving hate those ice wizards. 100 HOGS AGREE fucked around with this message at Jul 18, 2012 around 16:14 |

Underwhelmed posted:An exe combo will do it, but you can't get it until quite a bit later. I don't recall the exact pattern, I think it is a ring within a ring of stars that signals a coin fairy. Just trip the fairy point, and if it isn't the right type, exit the room before they come together and try again. Recognizing Fairies: Healing: Two stars spinning in a circle. Attack: Two stars spinning in a square. Key: Four stars spinning in a square. Item: Four stars spinning, two in a circle, two in a square (Combination of Healing and Attack)

victrix posted:edit: Actual question - why isn't my Grail working for save spots in Twin Pillars above Inferno, and the Moonlight temple? Some tablet said something about needing specific game software loaded, I have both the one hidden behind the village elder statue, and the one purchased in Inferno I had it for ages before I realized what it did. So much unnecessary backtracking.

Zeether posted:How in the gently caress am I supposed to use the grapple claws in that vertical shaft with the flamethrowers in the Inferno Cavern? The tablet says something about it and I could grab a wall below the second set (loving hate how getting hurt makes you fall off) and nothing was there at all. Unless the room with the flares was the thing it's talking about. You gotta open the wall up first. As for getting down there without wanting to kill yourself in real life, the best way I found (and I got real good at this because of that sub-boss) is to stand at the top and jump down and hug the left wall so you miss the first flame jet on the first screen. Due to the timing on the flame jets, you'll also miss the first flame jet on the left on the second screen. Grab the wall before you hit the second flame jet on the left and then you should be able to do two well-timed wall kicks to get into the opening. I did that like 20 times.

Underwhelmed posted:Actually.... I was just thinking about this, you can freely change your jump direction once you hit a wall, I wonder if it is possible to get inside of there without the claw or the feather? I'm not in a place that I can try it out, but something to think about.

Super Jay Mann posted:Nah, combining those programs in your memory grants certain special effects based on the combos. It's a holdover from the original where you collected literally dozens of MSX ROMs and combined them to do all sorts of crazy stuff. Be thankful, in the original you had to buy one just to enable saving (and only in Elder Xelpud's tent). You could unlock 4 save slots with a second one but you couldn't find that one until You reenter Guidance Gate from the Confusion Gate (Illusion in the remake) So for a couple hours you only get one save slot. Nigoro hates you. They just hate you less in the remake.

Ok, well, I'm absolutely stuck then. I haven't found any new paths or items in like two hours of playing. Last thing I did was use the dragon skull in the Holy Mother's Shrine, but I haven't been able to find out what that did. Here's my inventory currently: http://i.imgur.com/7OzJb.png I haven't found a way to get into the backside areas for the Spring in the Sky, Chamber of Extinction, or the Endless Corridor. I'm going absolutely nuts here. I've beaten bosses for Guidance, Giants, Sun, and Spring. TheUkuleleFanboy posted:Any tips for the warp puzzle in the Illusion/Confusion Gate? BrainGlitch posted:This game looks really awesome but I'm kind of bad at puzzles and remembering little details. If I wanted to get this what should I know and how should I go about starting this game? You can scan background objects, sometimes they are important, as they may be referenced in tablet hints. Room names, that appear in the map once you get it and a map viewer, may also be important. Also, save constantly and in different slots.
