As the designers get eliminated, I will augment this first post to reflect who is currently in the running.

This year's crop seems to be back to the Project Runway staple designers. Older crazy lady, commercial girl, draping guy, flamboyant guy. I hope that this season gets back to what makes it good, instead of reinventing the wheel.

Just remember the reason why we still watch this show:

Judging by the casting clips, which can be seen on lifetime.com, I think Kooan will be absolutely painful to watch. He'll either be gone after the first two or three episodes or go all the way to the end simply to have someone to piss off the other designers and create drama.

Finally, Tim Gunn is back. I'll admit that Joanna Coles turned out better than expected on All Stars, but there's nothing better than the original recipe.

I liked Joanna Coles, surprisingly. She didn't try to be Tim Gunn part two, she was just this Cruella DeVille old school fashion bitch, and her honesty made her all the better.

Tim Gunn is still the best, though. One of these he'll adopt me. Please?

Hay hay hay!

I'd actually love if they brought Joanna back to do more mentoring or perhaps permanent judging position. I remember when she was speaking to Austin and just walked off to his surprise.

My one hope for the season - Stop giving them extremely short deadlines and expecting magic. Ie. 6 hour challenge.

Agreed. I know that the All-Stars season was on a shorter production schedule, but I hope that Lifetime can at least give this season more than 2 weeks to film.

Her answers are quite horrible, aren't they? This would be a good opportunity for the producers to repeat that Levi's denim challenge from season 4.

I'll set the over/under for how many new age buzzwords she uses in the first episode at 10.

Edit: nevermind, she doesn't seem like a new ager, but I can easily see her in a "Keep Austin Weird" t-shirt while giving "tea" as an answer to a question about her favorite coffee blend.

Her clothing portfolio looks a lot better and is a hell of a lot more prolific than the others, so, I don't really care what her choice in hot beverage is. If she can make something like them on PR itll be good stuff. Plus crazies are the most fun to watch, I hope she's totally batshit along with than Japanese dude.

That's if she can operate with a deadline in a stressful environment. Something tells me that someone who "prefers silence" will have a difficult time dealing with all the other designers around all the time.

But she could always just go the full Mila by being a huge bitch to everyone and just focusing on making the same black and white outfit over and over again.

Crazy's only good for so long. Her portfolio is decent, but there's a fair bit of repetition, and a lot of that chunky, over-worked stuff. DEATHERAGE'S portfolio is good, too.

Well, there's no accounting for taste. I like chunky and overworked, I think her plays with silhouette are awesome and pretty fresh, as is her use of differing things for prints. And, I always love crazy, reality TV is about as 'real' as Pro Wrestling, so it might as well be loony and entertaining.

You know, I didn't think it was SO awful. I am more excited for this season than I was after the first episode of the last season. Chris's gown was gorgeous and I was to see what else Ven can do.

The insta-feud between Gunnar and Chris is hilarious.

Also, the preview for next week looks incredibly dramatic, and they also edited it to look like someone died. I hope no one died, but I am all for some mega drama.

Hello Project Runway goons. I have literally never watched this show in my life, but I'm planning on watching it because Chris went to my middle/highschool and I was friends with him in drama club. Also his mom works for my mom.

I'm really excited to watch it, actually. Hope Chris does well.

I figured it'd be a woman being beaten by her husband, maybe clutching the hand of a young daughter, based on what they air.

Or just Heidi Klum next to Abby Lee Miller from "Dance Moms."

Nobody died, but Tom And Lorenzo posted this a while ago:
http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/2012/0...y-meltdown.html

So it seems as if there's something insane coming up in one of the next episodes.

I liked the episode, but then again it let the designers be pretty much themselves, and those episodes always lead to more satisfying results then the "create a gown out of cat skin in six hours" challenges. Kooan was a lot less annoying than I expected him to be, and the pieces they brought from home showed that there's some talent amongst these designers. I just hope the producers don't ruin it by having too many drama challenges.

That first episode was just too much for me. Two looks per designer? I can barely keep track of all the new faces and looks when 16 designers just do 1 look in the first episode. But sending 32 looks down the runway in the first episode, it was just overwhelming. I couldn't really pay attention until the judge's panel. So far nobody stands out for me because it's just really way too early and way too overwhelming right now.

I just love that this extraordinarily fabulous, effeminate little gay man's name is GUNNAR DEATHERAGE and he's getting a villain edit. He seems like Chris's evil twin.

I think this is the first season where I don't actively hate anybody's aesthetics. Everyone seems pretty interesting and I'd like to see more from them all. I really liked Chris, Alicia, Melissa, and Elena's work, and Ven seems like he's super skilled.

E: Kors's "I believe in python bibs!" cracked me up. So happy the old judges are back after Mizrahi and whoever else was on All-Stars.

I don't really think Andrea is going to be very crazy or annoying judging from her behavior in the first. Also wondering if she knows Tim Gunn from before the show considering the have both worked as fashion professors in NYC. I'm not sure why nobody on the judging panel seems to get that Kooan's stuff would sell to a ton of weird teenagers in Japan. Isn't that just as valid a market as old white people in America?

Either Gunnar or Chris needs to leave the show soon, because I can't tell those fuckers apart. They have the same personality, they look alike, they talk the same, I can't tell who's who.

Also there've been a LOT of gay guys on the show, but is this the first time one of the contestants has been an open lesbian?

To me, Chris' face sort of looks like Michael Costello's, so that's how I'm telling them apart.

But if would help if either Chris or Gunnar decided to be the evil one and grew a goatee.
