I am very excited to see how dumb this will get. The Bardock special's big reveal was amazing, so if it's on that level I'll be happy.AlternateNu posted:I wonder if it is going to be in the same vein as the other movies, which were basically just self-contained 45 minute episodes. I want super saiyan 3 Vegeta, though that would make GT make even less sense. Always bugged me that he never reached it despite having the ten or so years after the Buu saga to do it, you know he wouldn't just stand for being shown up like that.

One of my favorite things to do with the first 3-4 movies was try to see if they fit in the series timeline, based on who was alive and who was dead and what techniques they used. As far as I figured only Deadzone would fit.

Wrath of the Dragon (takes place after Buu dies). These push it a bit: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan (takes place during the 10 day wait for the Cell games). And maaaaaaybe Cooler's Revenge, but this is the absolute limit of believability. The rest are too contradictory to possibly fanwank in. I'd REALLY like this movie to directly contradict GT in some way, establishing that GT isn't canon.

Toriyama's been spending the past few years writing the story for Dragonball Online, which pretty much ignores all of GT. So, in a way, DBO is the official continuation of Dragonball Z since it comes from the author.

Adult Gohan is my favorite character and I want him to be the big cool hero and save the day but I know that's not going to happen. At the very least I want some sort of acknowledgement that he's the strongest one among them by the end of Z because gently caress Wrath of the Dragon and gently caress GT.

One thing that I really like about DBZ in retrospect is that the power levels truly were 'power' levels. E.g. energy output per unit time. They changed with attacks, emotional states etc. In so many other shows, they have 'energy' levels, where the number or whatever basically determines the outcome of a fight.

Another thing that's great is how much they joke about the power creep that most other shows largely ignore. In that recent special especially. "Oh these guys have reached the level of that one guy that destroyed whole planets and plunged the universe into a state of constant terror? The one we barely got by? Yeah let's let the nine year olds take care of it."

Also, power levels explode devices every time someone tries to measure them in Z. Especially in Buu saga.

SSJ3 Vegeta already exists - he's popped up in a few video games. As has SSJ3 Broly, Gogeta, and Trunks(?).

Yeah I've played a couple of those games, but I mean in an official capacity. As a previous poster said it seems like he lost his drive after the Buu fight, I was hoping that he would give up trying to surpass Goku as he realised Goku was basically an idiot savant in fighting, but not give up on becoming more powerful himself.

Wasn't SSJ3 a basically meta-humor by Toryiama mocking the trope of constant new transformations for the hero? Seems like it'd be defeating the point for someone achieving it to be a useful accomplishment. Anyways I think it's time to start placing bets about how the bad guy will be killed. My money's on the Spirit Bomb.

It's not as bad as the Kamehameha though which killed an amazing total of one guy despite being used around forty times. And in the spirit bomb's defense it at least winded the bad guys even if it didn't kill them.

Momomo posted:Hasn't that only worked like one time, and it was at the very end? For a supposedly ultimate attack, it had a pretty poo poo track record. For the record, Goku doesn't directly kill ANYONE during the entire Dragonball Z series (Buu being reborn negates his death). The only real death was Yakon, who just ate too much of Goku's energy so Goku didn't really do anything. Of course, that's not from lack of trying, he shoots Freeza and Cell in the face, they just happened to be really really really resilient.

Basically Freeza and after that saga was the Vegeta family line cleaning up his mess and finishing the kills. It was really annoying.

I thought I remember Nappa coming back in one of the movies, or GT or something, and him telling Vegeta that they can go conquer the universe now and Vegeta just kills him then and there.

I want that too, if only to prove the theory that by the end of DBZ Krillin could hold his own against a SSJ. Look...I just want Krillin to get more respect, okay? In other news, I've never stopped finding it hilarious that Krillin's VA does Luffy as well. You can only play second fiddle for so long, I guess.

Doesn't he end up like rich and happily married and one of the most powerful beings in the universe, just not on the same level as Godking Saiyan Dudes. I'm pretty sure you don't do better than that. (I haven't seen DBZ aside from DBZAbridged for like fifteen years so maybe he gets his neck broken and tossed in a ditch, I forget.)

Him and Yamcha are literally the most powerful humans by a longshot and I'm pretty certain that Krillin is more powerful than Yamcha. Being one of the only humans who can fly and shoot laser beams is a pretty distinguished point. In fact, the more I think about Krillin, the cooler I realize he is, he just gets overshadowed by a prince and the son of the most badass guy from a planet full of warriors so crazy they could breathe in space.

Krillin is almost certainly the most powerful human, but only if you don't consider 18 as a human. I just hope this movie has more Hercule. He was my favorite. I always loved how he manages to convince the world that he is the strongest despite all the overwhelming evidence against him. When he 'fights' Trunks in the fighting competition at the start of the Buu saga and makes it seem like he lost on purpose to make the kid feel good... genius.
