Wow, probably my best ever fantasy football week- 116 points!! top 50 rank for the week

Hoops posted:

RVP(c) and Suarez both there, great week.

Need a replacement for Suarez now, and another goalkeeper. No-one I really like the look of right now for either, I can't afford Hart and a decent striker, and I don't want Begovic in this last few weeks.

There's a double gameweek for Man City, West Brom, Wigan, Swansea, Chelsea and Spurs in a few weeks time. Make sure any transfers you make bring in players from those teams. I subbed out Suarez and Fabianski for Tevez and Lloris (and a 4 point hit). Get rid of Suarez asap because he'll only drop in value.

Top of H2H2, but can't seem to get into the TRP top 20.

That double gameweek could well be worth burning points for extra transfers.

Barry?

I'm currently on the fence about whether to get Lukaku or Kone as my third forward for the DGW. Lukaku has the better form, Kone the better fixtures (including the last day) and more to play for. Leaning Lukaku at the minute.

Don't really have anything to play for now, hopefully I can grab a top 500,000 finish and make a decent effort at doing it properly next season.

It's currently looking like my choice of Begovic this week is going to pay off. He'll get no bonus points for making saves, but his goal won't be threatened all night.

The H2H1 title is getting decided tonight, since I'm almost certainly going to lose to Grievo, who hasn't touched his team since the start of December, and therefore has four Chelsea players. The fucker.

Four goals and Bale/Mata got 3 points between them.

Five of the dream team for the GW only had one match.

75 for the week, and I had 69 of them before anyone had played their second game. Bale's card cost me the H2H match. It was a bad week, and it is a bad game.

I've captained RvP for pretty much every game this season ... I feel lost without him in my side for the final two game weeks!

I guess it'll have to be Bale.

I'm not. I was hoping to, but late season injuries and my poor substitutions afterwards properly derailed me these past few months. I'll be lucky to hit 1800. It'll be a personal point record for me, but for a while there it looked like I'd do really well this year :-/

At least that dreadful man has gone. For now.

As someone who gave up in early March I cannot believe that I am in second place in H2H3 and 22 in TRP Classic. Just goes to show that captaining RVP and letting it ride is a good strategy.

The team in 7th hasn't made a transfer since October with that strategy.

Hoping Captain Cazorla will just about lock up 3rd place for me. I didn't get on that Van Persie train soon enough, and I was never catching up with the front runners.

So I want to get into this fantasy thing to give me more motivation to follow the sport; however it looks like the season is ending soon. Does all fantasy football just stop until the season starts anew? This is probably a stupid question but I have literally no idea how fantasy football works.

You've picked just about the exact wrong the time I'm afraid, the season ends tomorrow. After that, yeah the fantasy league is over till August. If you want to play next year though, I recommend learning the following names:

Asmir Begovic
Leighton Baines
Rickie Lambert

Every second year you either have the Euros or World Cup leagues to dabble in. Nothing this year though. So yeah, probably the worst time ever to get that fantasy football itch!

The new league will open up about a month or so before the start of the season, so keep an eye out around that time if you remember.

If you've only very recently found football it may be worth keeping tabs on off-season before throwing yourself at Fantasy Football. Watch out for the big name signings (and the small name signings to big clubs) so you're fully clued up ready for the 2013/14 season.

Good luck for today everyone. I don't think I'll make up the 15 point gap at the top, but I'll be very happy with a 2nd place finish in my final season.

It's been fun!

He's getting a lot of attention so the price will be up there. Mata is my first pick next year but he's not particularly a bargain like those three have been.

[edit]Broke 2000, uncatchable in my mates league, somewhere between 30th and 40th in the TRP league. Happy with that.

I, too, have broken 2000 points. Was a good year. My main lesson for next year is to not be smart and try to transfer out rvp when I predict him dying to an injury or losing form or something. Next year I'm essentially going to get rvp, mata, michu, baines and bale, and build a team of dogshit around them.

This was the first year where I actually cared about the game until the very end. I had a pretty slow/bad start, did pretty well in the middle, then fizzled out at the end. I'll have to just jump on the RvP train next season. I just always feel that if you splash out on him, you'll never have enough money for the rest of your team. But I suppose, who needs other players...

I just broke 2000 as well (PANTS FC). Pretty good considering my anti-Arsenal bias meant that I had no Corzola and no RVP.

It came down to loving bonus points on the last day! Over the moon with snatching victory back right at the death, I thought I'd thrown it away a month ago. Lukaku with a hattrick against United off the bench - the perfect lucky way to end the season. 2 points between 1st and 2nd ... who'd have thunk it 38 games ago?

It's been the best final season of FPL I could have hoped for. Won all my leagues and placed ~3,200/~2,600,000. I'm quitting now so I don't have another season of hideous guilt wanting our opposition to sneak a goal (but just one!) to take points off other fantasy managers with clean sheets, or for willing RvP to score ... sigh.

Well played guys, it was fun right until the very end. Good luck next year, all!
