Lum_ posted:* Finally Shinuyama said you know, maybe we shouldn't be killing each other while TC is eating literally the entire map and making the scores look silly. I agreed (and actually gave back the vast majority of Shinuyama's territory, including his cap) and started working on killing Caelum, both for basically free resources from an idle player and to make turns go by faster (he was staling every turn for much of the game). Yeah, in retrospect I think that was a bad deal for you; you had pretty much beaten me (after I had fought off Ermor, Midgard and Caelum), so with a few more turns Midgard & Mictlan's cap could have been yours as well, in addition to mine and Ermor's and Caelum's

You definitely did kill off the world. I kept raiding behind the lines, going to set taxes to 200%, then realizing the entire population of the territory was dead. I think I only had pop in my cap territories, everything else was a wasteland. Your mindhunt spam forced me to gear only MR, so if you had scripted your mages to spam frozen heart my -100% cold resist Ember Lords would've been mulched. The grendlekin, however, were 100% cold resist and around 28-31 MR. Speaking of that, how do you kill SC's like Grendlekin who are immune to your mage's elemental blasting and that have huge protection, regen, and MR? I'm being destroyed by Wild Ettins in another game that are geared very similarly to what I used in Sammich. Stupid Fomoria and lack of magic diversity.

I cast the death version on the last turn of the game because I literally had nothing better to do with 100 death gems! But the gem income for both of us was pretty much into comedy territory by that point.AmishSpecialForces posted:You definitely did kill off the world. I kept raiding behind the lines, going to set taxes to 200%, then realizing the entire population of the territory was dead. It could have been even better - I was tempted to devote a wish to wishing for "people", which would have sucked a flat 5000 people from everyone else's territory to mine. Which would have easily encompassed THE ENTIRE POPULATION OF THE WORLD. It would have been a comedy win, but I always had more important things to do with wishes! (And judging from the graphs your economy was cratered anyway) Edit: Oh wait, checking the wiki it doesn't draw from all provinces, just one random one. Much less comedy value Dunno where I got the 5000 globally from, think it was from some years-old discussion on Shrapnel forums.

Posting this from dom3mods at frosted's request. ![]() (Thanks to Immac for the name and frosted mug image) Sombre posted:As a non cashmoney bonus I'll mod in whatever unit the winner wants to see, too, even if it's a stupid space jellyfish made of sandwiches. So I like duels, those quick (in dom3 terms) 1:1 blitz games. They're fun as hell, but I think the level of competition isn't nearly as high as it should be. Most players seem to have a bit of an adjustment period coming from years of FFA PBEM and generally well executed strategies are pretty rare. I want to raise the bar and see people running cut throat broken strategies/builds that have been honed to perfection: torturous turtles clashing against dual bless destruction, research and scales, rainbows and gorgans all colliding in horrifying and completely loving awesome ways. In order to make this dream a reality, I'm willing to put down $50 cash money. You can do whatever you want with that $50 bill, you could for instance stop being a dickhead pirate and actually buy the game, you could go get a couple lap dances, buy guild wars, get a nice bottle of wine. Or maybe just take that $50 dollar bill and frame it as the only $50 you've ever made by crushing your enemies, seeing them driven before you and hearing the lamentations of their women. It's your call. But I'm willing to spend a few dollars to see what this game is truly capable of. ----- The dirty details of how this tourney works (and even if it happens or not) will depend on how much interest there is and how many players potentially sign up. That said, I imagine the following settings: ERA: EA FORMAT: Single Elimination NATION SELECTION: Every player selects a primary and secondary nation. They must play their primary nation in every game, if both players have the same primary nation they both fall back to their secondary picks. MAP SELECTION: Both players may select a map between themselves, if no agreement is reached Twolands is used. SCHEDULE: Schedules will be arranged directly between players. GAME SETTINGS: Easy Research, all else stock. MODS: (Pending, although likely CBM 192 + 0.2 Pretender). Any of the above may change (in fact I might simply decide not to run the tourny at all) and many additional details will likely need to be set up. That said, who's interested? I've been informed that there was a similar tourny run on SA a couple years ago. So this isn't the first - that one never finished though, so this might still be the firstISH. <-- yay for cash prizes!

This might be already old news, but the version of AI that the SADASS games are using has a bug in it: clone vats give nature gems instead of blood slaves. Also, I'm noticing Saith is going stale a lot in SADASS ALPHA. Who is actively still playing other than me and Korwin? I think it might be time to call it a joint win between me and him and end it. edit for clarity

For those wondering at the volume of changes, TheDemon turned me on to an interesting idea at some point with his Demon Edition mod stuff, so many of these changes, while not necessary, are me starting to bring things in line with a new design paradigm. Rainbows get few starting paths, at low levels, with magicboost to make their innates higher, making them good casters, bad blessers. Magical beasts are the inverse, having high bless paths but penalties to casting. Titans are opposite in another way, having very high innate real paths, but having very high path cost, making it difficult for them to go outside their nature. A lot of really nice changes there. While I'm sure there are some that are overpowered, it's just awesome (heh) to have so many interesting choices. I wonder if the fact that there are so many interesting utility options will lead to people wishing for some of these in game. I can imagine wishing for the destroyer of worlds if you needed to break a defensive communion for instance, since the earthquake would go off before protective magic in the communion.

Ninja, is the Arch Seraph supposed to start with massive old age? Because on a chassis with 8HP that costs 150 points, I'd have to say that that is an absolute instant dealbreaker. Edit: There seem to be a ton of pretenders suffering from old age now. Scorpion King, Shedu, a few others I've come across. I personally really dislike old age on a pretender, (The Crone is at least thematic), one bad winter and the chassis you may have invested a whole lot in becomes rapidly worthless. NoNotTheMindProbe posted:Total Dom3 noob here. What's the best mod to install once I have a handle on the vanilla game? You either use summons that can go underwater, or you get lucky and get a coastal province with recruitable UW troops and commanders. One thing to keep in mind is you can't recruit UW province defense if you're not an UW nation. edit: Also, some mercenaries can go underwater. As to mods, CBM is sort of the default "Fix poo poo, but don't go too crazy". I personally prefer playing with Awesome Gods as it makes a lot the gods actually worth choosing, where they'd normally be just bad.

I assumed it was something along these lines. With the bit of modding I've done I always just set pretender maxages to arbitrarily high values, because as hilarious as the idea of a mage powerful enough to attain godhood dying of old age before reaching it, it doesn't make for much of a fun game. I've had a play around with a few of the new chassis and I really like some of them, looking forward to SADASS 2.

Timewarp3 Do you like charts? I know you do. Do you like being given information you could easily get yourself? Again, I know you do. Do you like rushing to snap judgments before a game really gets off the ground? Spoiler: YOU DO. Please, accept this chart. ![]() So this is a chart showing (maybe) how many provinces each of the teams have. It's not exact. It's an estimate based on the graphs for Turn 5. Notice how there's no numbers on the y-axis? That's intentional (see below). Two other notes: 1. Lilli, this is your game and I apologize in advance if you were planning on doing something similar to this. I just got bored. Please tell me if I am out of line. 2. Maybe there's an easy way to figure out exact numbers based on the Dom3 charts. I know I have 4 (badass) provinces and that matched up to about 8.6 on the y-axis within my game. I tried to use that ratio (2.15 to 1) to figure out everyone else's numbers, but it didn't work out. If people like this, I'll do one every 5 turns until some jerk eliminates me from the game. I could also put the player names under each nation if that's desirable. Also, if there's a better thread to throw this in, I'll do that too.
