Sucks for the issues that are in this game, because I can get it to work and it's phenomenal.

I knew nothing about this game going in, besides goons saying to buy it. What the gently caress am I doing Seriously, just an ever growing WHAT is the best way to describe this game. On that note, what the gently caress is flexibility. I'm murdering dudes with all sorts of nonsense game, I'm very flexible. e I was told to kill the girl in Chapter 4, and I didn't, instead I grabbed her by accident, and it told me to take her to my car. Now she's chilling at my house. What the gently caress is happening. Rookersh fucked around with this message at Oct 23, 2012 around 19:27 |

It feels like I'm playing on the hardest unlockable difficulty in a game that would normally hide multiple higher tier difficulties behind finishing the game for the first time. Take that as you will. In my case it is not a point in the game's favor and I think I'm about ready to call it quits before I start biting things.

Wait, how are you remapping controls? I've got sort of mixed feelings about this one. I like the look of it, and the idea is pretty cool, but I feel a lot like the stages are just trial and error right now, and sometimes it works out, and sometimes it just doesn't. Like I can go into a room, and beat down a few guys with a baseball bat, and sometimes it aggros another guy in another room with a gun that then pops through a doorway off screen and shoots me, and sometimes it doesn't I have no idea exactly what the trigger is when another guy, who is closer to the commotion seems unbothered by it. Yeah, the issues it's having really sucks, but it's pretty much just as great imagined it'd be. I just hope the controller support will mean you aim in the direction you walk, because with KB+M it feels kind of like a chore to keep your eye on the cursor to make sure you're aiming the right way. Also the framerate is weirdly choppy in some areas despite my fraps counter never dropping below 60.

Feelin' really good about this game. The music is incredible too! There are some ogg files in the game's directory, but I'm not sure of a track order. Is that the only way to get the soundtrack or can I buy it somewhere?

Yeah, the soundtrack's available here. I keep getting gamemaker errors with the game but its a lot of fun so far and pretty nailbiting when you get near the end of a level.

Also, some of the music is available from the artists themselves. The Perturbator track, for example, is a bonus track on his latest EP. You know, I wouldn't call this the goriest game I've ever played (though it's definitely up there), but it's the most brutal by a huge margin. The sound design and visuals just make it so much more nauseating than most violent games.

Holy gently caress this game owns. This what gaming's all about for me. No prescripted cinematic crap, just brutal mechanics that lead to badass situations that in this case end up feeling like low-res versions of the Drive motel massacre scene. Fast-paced, bloody, desperate violence with a constant, looming threat of a horrible, gory death. Some games have that moment of enlightment where you just fall in love with it. Mine was when standing with an AR behind a door that had three guys with melee weapons. I wanted to take them out silently, so I kicked in the door, slamming down the closest one of them with it, then threw my rifle at the face of the next one. As he tumbled down I rushed on the last of them and punched him into a wall, then rapidly kicked his face in. Then it was only a matter of picking up his knife and finishing his buddies. All in a span of two seconds.

drat, pretty loving awesome. This had me hooked pretty much instantly, but I think the crowning moment was when I tossed a gun at a guy just to get his bat and then beat his shotgun wielding friend to death just before the knife guy at the end of the hall noticed and, of course, got his head bashed in. The plot is super weird, I love it. edit: the music is also really really good.

There's something screwy as gently caress with the save system, too. I just quit Chapter... 9, I think, so that I could go back in and try again with a different mask, and for some reason Chapter 10 is unlocked.

The update released a few minutes ago on Steam is largely for those like myself who had the debug popups and the issue with VC++ saying there's already a newer version. When you run the game after this it repairs VC++. I don't know if it just adds files that are needed (apparently missing) on x64 systems, or if it rolls back VC++, but whatever, my game now loads into the menu. Downside is, the controller support is indeed borked and has now been disabled. Additionally, on load you get an option to disable Steam integration, which includes Achievements, because that is bugged and causing issues. If controllers work for you then you probably shouldn't update the game. But I'm not sure anyones are working...

uber_stoat posted:I'm at what may be the final boss fight, and it's the shittiest poo poo that's ever been shat. Makes me want to quit playing. Yeah that fight blows but there is a specific way to do each step: Obviously the first thing to do is go for the goblet on the right. Use to fountain to break line of sight on the panthers. Once you get the timing down for smacking them that part is not too bad. The key is to be aggressive. You can't smack them two times in a row because they become invincible for a second when they get hit but you can stop one in a dead sprint towards you with a well timed smack. Second stage is easy as hell. Bean her with the cup. Third stage sucks but once you understand what is happening why it gets more manageable. You need to pick up the knives obviously but the important thing about them that I did not figure out for way to many tries is that you cannot stab with them, only throw them. Further more for whatever bizarre reason it seems you can only throw them using the regular attack button and not the button you have been using to throw weapons for the rest of the game. He always starts shooting forward and rotates towards you. Stay close and you can run a full circle around him before he catches up. When you hit him with the first knife he resets to shooting forward. Wash rinse and repeat Good luck.

The game's issues are a bummer because when it works it's loving brilliant. I was lucky enough to not get any errors except for 360 controller support not working. I could get the stick to work, but no buttons. To the developer's credit, they've apparently been doing bug fixes all day and are planning to add more in the way of options and settings in the next few days. I'm personally hoping it gets a windowed mode option or something. Fraps doesn't like this game. It has to split the recording into at least three different videos because the game's resolution changes between the stage and the two results screens.

Chapter 4 How do you actually get to the guy getting strapped with bombs? I noticed you have to go in from the south, but there's no way for me to physically get there on either floor. Considering I got a game maker error window it might have just bugged out If there was ever a game that needed a random endless level it's this one.

Gunshots not making noise (or it seems like they make less noise. But a lot less.) means you can pull off some straight up bullshit. Especially since enemy cannot "see" their buds dying. And enemies that take more then one shot with the AR do not respond to damage, meaning as long as there back is turned you can pump lead into them and they won't so much as blink. Before that Ted (dog) is super useful but I played most of the early levels with the Owl until I figured out you could see the secrets without it.
