When locusts or grasshoppers storm in billions, they say day becomes as dark as night. The sky gets covered with billions of insects. When ants are well fed they do not attack human crops and livestocks so you should feed insects to ants. When ants population increases, different species on ants kill each other for food. Ants love eating termites and other insects and bugs. Also fish eats ants. So more ants means more fish. There are some large species of ants (1 inch to 2 inches long) and they will kill rats and mice. They are big and dangerous ants. You can easily scare off ants with fire if the ants population increases. Always remember "Fire". Ants, insects and all animals are terrified of Fire. Ants release their feramones or scent in the sand so that other ants follow them. You can rub and apply the "ant sand" on your body to scare off mosquitos. Bear Grylles of Man v/s wild had rubbed "ant sand" on his body. Mosquitos are terrified of ants. Presidents and prime ministers are also terrified of Fire. In Australia there is species of big ants which collects honey or nectar in their stomachs and it is becomes the size of grapes or berries. Native Australians eat these ants for the honey or liquid food. In China a man sells "powder ants" and earns good money. Once your ant farm builds a Fungi Refinery, you can start training sand ants ("sants" on the forums). Sants are able to convert shelled insect prey (beetles, wasps, other ants) into ant sand.

I don't have enough for a Refinery now and I can't seem to progress without the sand ants. Am I in for a few hours of grinding leaf-cutters now?
