I am ready to not be a fatty. I have said this many times before, I've done weight watchers, South Beach, and attempted any number of diets and I was successful to a point but I am ready to just be successful. C25K is great, running is awesome, but you should be lifting weights! Go check out the girls lifting weights thread to get started. Are you tracking calories? With what app/website?

Haha, sorry if I came across that way. It's just that you have had trouble keeping this sustainable before: maybe try resistance training, which is incredibly empowering and fun while helping you lose weight faster AND look better once you are done. Another thing is that "walking more", "doing some yoga" and "lowering carbs" are all terribly unspecific, which is a surefire way to sabotage yourself. You need a more detailed plan of what you will be doing, how, and when. These are the things that significantly up your chances of actual follow-through and success.

Re what KBD said: listen to this woman she is brilliant and also really helpful and what she says is the truth. A good plan is a plan you can follow. A sketch is easy to step outside of and easy to fudge around with. Commit to doing like three things total. 1: Eat this many calories a day or this many carbs a day. 2: Walk this many times a week or this many miles a week or this many steps a day. 3: Do this exercise these days or this thing these days and this other thing on these other days. It doesn't have to be difficult, it's better it if isn't but the steps need to be clear and concise. It's also suuuper important to track what you're eating. If you have a smart phone myfitnesspal is pretty much the best thing ever. Lots of TFLC ladies use it. Aaaaaaaaaaaand finally GO TEAM YOU ARE AWESOME!!

Thanks everyone! I do plan on being more specific, I am actually being more specific irl I just wanted to get my log posted before I chickened out(Especially the pics). I am eating 2000-2100 calories a day, and limiting carb intake. Somedays have actually been hard to get that many calories. I don't really have details on the amount of carbs but I'm pretty much following a south beach style plan. Pretty much everyday I am either walking for 25 minutes or doing a yoga video workout. I would like to be able to go for a walk during my lunch break but walking around a neighborhood at 3-4am doesn't seem like the smartest idea. I'm using my fitness pal to track my food but I need to buckle down and log log log more. It is also hard to call things breakfast lunch and dinner when I am currently working graveyard shifts 5 nights a week, what do I call it at 2am? I should be starting a new job in the next month so that may not be an issue for too much longer. I would like to add in some bodyweight/kettlebell/some kind of weight lifting type of exercise to my routine, I just need to find some instructions/video because I have no idea what I would be doing with that. Also, thanks on the bra, it is my favorite!

You can rename your meals on mfp if you go to the settings on the actual website. It might work better to number them instead of label so it doesn't feel upside down. I used to work overnight as well and it's always weird trying to get into an eating schedule that doesn't make you feel like you have a problem. Especially if you snack to stay awake, as we all did in the ER.

Thanks for the tip. I do tend to to some stay awake snacking, I already cut out the energy drinks and tons of soda I was drinking when I first started on nights so that is one plus. I did find that baby carrots dipped in peanut butter worked pretty well last night for a few reasons: YUM, Protein, and I came out at the right level of calorie intake. Yay me! Does anyone have any specific recommendations for yoga/other fitness videos to start out with? I would like a greater variety of options for my workouts. I think I might start checking some out from the library so I can test a bunch out.

Good news, I was down a pound Monday night, bad news...ate some pizza as a treat for my birthday, got drunk out with friends and had a some taco bell(I had pretty much planned on doing this, this was part of my hesitation to start my log). I am back on track and except for continuing to have a deficit of calories I am doing well. I think I may need to do more meal planning and less eating by the seat of my pants. Pretty much all of what I have been eating is healthy and low in fat, I just need to pack more in I guess. Also I reserved some yoga and fitness type videos from my local library. They should be ready for me to pick up in a couple days!

I've had a good last couple days food and yoga wise but work has been super crazy and stressful. I'm really hoping that the next couple weeks will bring some more calm in my life. Family stuff has really been stressing me out too but I'm not allowing myself to go down the road of emotional eating. I've even been doing some yoga on my lunch breaks when I get them.

I put in notice at my work and have a firm date that I will start training for my new job, Yay! That means no more spending and hour and a half on the road every day or driving over 55 miles round trip. This also means I will be getting a pay out of vacation time on my last day and will be able to buy some nice running shoes!!!! I'm going to go to an actual running store and get help deciding what to get. When I was clearing out my stockpile of carbs from my pantry I found some Juice plus protein powder and decided to mess around with it. I think I might go ahead and get some other kind because 20 carbs per serving is killing me. I would much rather eat my carbs in real food. Time to dig through the supplements thread. I fell in my bathroom on Monday so all exercise was put on hold until yesterday and even then my hip and back were quite sore after even a really gentle yoga set. I really need to invest in some rugs for the bathroom. The slightest amount of water on the floor and it turns into an ice rink. I had smashed my head against the toilet and landed on my hip and tweaked my back. Much better today though, I think I might just do yoga again today though. I'm down another pound though! And I think my muffin top may be a little smaller. Been thinking I need to track down my measuring tape and get my measurements down.

I didn't have scale when I was losing my weight just a tape measure. And, as much as you can obsess about those numbers too, I always felt a lot less pressure that way.

Update: Tuna is my best friend, except when the boyfriend is around(he's allergic). Giant bags of little sweet pepper along with massive amounts of hummus are also pretty great. Plus I have been trying out some more proteiny grains. I am not sure how I feel about Quinoa. Something about the popping of the grains reminds me of roe on sushi, which I am not a fan of so, I don't know. I really wanted to like it though. I walked over 2 miles yesterday because I was bored and wanted to, so that was awesome. Normally I would have just put on a movie or played some game or cuddle with my animals. It felt really good, I sweated a ton, it is pretty hot here in the PacNW but I am living it up while I can. I ended up walking from my house to a park I used to go to when I was at daycare as a very young child, it was kind of awesome to reminisce and wander about the neighborhood I used to live in.

![]() I start training for my new job in the morning and I'm not sure what the food storage options are so I have to figure out what to bring with me. I think peppers and hummus and then just eat a big dinner. In other news the scale showed 290 today in between fluctuations. Did day 2 of the shred and boy am I feeling it. I can feel all my muscles, there ARE abs under there somewhere.

Training went well for a day spent sitting around a table reading and filling out paperwork. I can't wait until I get to meet my new clients! Didn't eat that well today but still did my shred even though I was exhausted. I didn't sleep to well last night(first day jitters). Dude, abs, ow. I never thought about my abs so much in a day before but being able to feel them at all times kinda does that.

Not going to post my log today, because I really didn't do one. Ate good during the day, went out to celebrate my new job tonight. Saw expendables 2 as well, it was amazing! I was really surprised by my progress on my 30 day shred exercises. I was able to do alot more between breathers than just a few days ago. Incredible! And my body doesn't feel quite as sore. I can get up out of a chair without my abs and legs killing me.

I was going to post my log tonight but I realized I have to get up early for training and had gotten sucked in to Orcs Must Die 2 for a little too long. Oops. Ate well today, under my calories but I was pretty good with everything else. I got my running shoes today!!!! So excited! I went in to Fit Right NW and had help getting fit and figuring out what I really needed. I walked away with a pair of New Balances with the Susan G Komen design. Yay! Now I need advice, should I wait and start running after my 30 day shred or just start doing it now? Do I do my running workout and then the shred? I don't know what to do! I can still faintly feel my muscles through the day but I can stand and sit bed and twist without hurting too bad. Jumping jacks are coming alot easier as well but I am worried that adding the run in would be too much too soon. I don't want to injure myself. I might just give it a try and see how it goes.

![]() Ate some food. I wanted to try out my new shoes so after training at my new job today I geared up and headed out for my first run. I have a C25K app on my phone and started out walking at Overlook Park around the track. Walking was good, my feet felt great in my shoes, still did at the end too. But my lungs couldn't keep up with me. I only made it just over halfway through the intervals and I couldn't run all the way through the running intervals. I'm trying not to feel too disappointed in myself but I really do. I huffed and puffed passed ultimate frisbee-ers and soccer teams practicing. Yuck. I have to keep going though. I'm not going to give up now. Unless I do something right now I will be obese and unfit for the rest of my life and I won't have that. I guess all I can do is pick up and keep going. I think my exercise plan is going to be to attempt the 5k workouts 3 days a week until I get it then continue with the plan. On days I'm not running(or trying to) I'll do the 30 day shred videos.

I got some great advice from a far away friend that organizes running clinics like the Couch to 5k she said I probably heard the word run and tried to run when I should have been doing the running motion with very little speed "I tell people to run so slow they could walk faster, and that if they saw someone they knew, they'd be embarrassed" I love this lady. I'll give it a try on my next run! Oh also, I was able to complete the first cardio circuit on the shred video without stopping to catch my breath! I am soo happy. Today I can feel the progress and it is helping me get over my disappointment from yesterday. Plus I'm taking my man out for dinner, gonna have some me fajita, sounds so good!

Been crazy busy with my new job and trying to get adjusted to working swing shift. I gained a little weight over the weekend because of eating and drinking at a wedding. However! I actually completed C25k week 1 day 1! I "ran" all the intervals and everything. Man that feels great. I still think I'm on track to hit my goal if I stay on track and don't have anymore big cheat days. Just over 10 pounds to go!

Working on running. I'm so happy to be finishing my runs but I just have one more from week one so we will have to see how week two goes. I'm wishing I could go running after work but after 11pm isn't really the best time to go for a run.
|
| # ? Sep 25, 2012 07:33 |

I made it through one of week two's runs and it was awesome. I think I might stay on this week for a while just to give my lungs a chance to catch up, I'm still huffing and puffing pretty hard. I have kept that first 5 pounds of weight off but I haven't managed to lose anymore so I don't think I'm going to make my goal. I've been looking at my diet and I think the problem may be my lack of consistency. I think I might need to move away from a low carb diet and just be low calorie and fat conscious. I love carbs so when I have a cheat meal or craving I just go all in instead of eating a more moderate amount. Maybe adding more carbs into my daily diet will help stem crazy cravings and more binge like behavior. I think moderation is going to be my new code word. I'm pretty happy with my progress over all though I'm exercising almost every day and been eating much healthier food. My lungs and body feel great but I can't shake the feeling that I am failing somehow by not making my goal. But I know that I have made change and gone through alot since I committed myself to this. Went through an investigation at work, switched jobs and schedules completely, Granny moved into hospice and I am prepping for my boyfriend to move in. Not an excuse but stress is hard for me to deal with and not overeat so the fact that I haven't gained weight is a victory, albeit a small one

Why?! I rolled my ankle yesterday at the park walking to the track I've been doing my C25k runs on. So I hobbled back to my car and had a day off. The selling is pretty much down today but I felt kind of wobbley during my shred work out this morning. I stood out of the parts that stressed the ankle too much hoping it will heal faster.

Got back on the running horse today, yay. It went pretty well. The ankle is stiff now after the run. I might need to do more stretching. Gotta figure out the best stretching, I have never been very good at it. 10 more days til my goal. Still don't think I'll make it.

Had an event tonight. A fundraiser for a great organization a friend works for. It was so fun. I ran out to Fat Fancy and bought an amazing retro beaded dress that fit amazingly well. I felt like a million bucks. I'm feeling healthier and have more energy. So so much fun. And I didn't go crazy on the appetizers and expensive dinner. The salmon was aaaamazing.

I haven't been running this week, my feet have really been bugging me so I've been doing the 30 day shred videos. I think standing on concrete for over 4 hours working at a haunted house is what did it. I'll see if more comfortable shoes will help that so I can get back on the track since I've really been enjoying it
