I got credit for the key, but then when I tried to inform goons in the steam group steam locked and that caused bl2 to lock up and now I dunno if I got credit or what because it's being hammered.

They are mostly on a set path leading up and around the ships stuck on mountains. The end point is the giant ship by his house. I don't recall what door you speak of, but you can totally jump over the wall by his house if that helps.
