Excellent thread. :) Halo 4 is shaping up to be pretty good, and I can't wait to pick up my copy on launch day after voting in the people who will gently caress up America for the next 4 years.

Bungie really wanted us to love alien zombies, but it just wasn't meant to be. :( The flood really was a terrible idea, and should have never made it into Halo 2 and 3.

What's the general opinion on that live action web mini-series, Forward Unto Dawn? I don't believe it's out yet, but is soon. From what i've seen of the trailers, it might actually be kinda cool.

I'm not the only one seeing a lot of Metroid Prime in Halo 4's preview stuff am I? I've seen what's basically the power beam, plasma beam, x-ray visor, scan visor, and a lot of the helmets look like stuff from the Prime games. I don't have a problem with that because Metroid Prime is great, but it's a bit odd to me. Even the bad guys look like space pirates.

Nope, you are not the only one. This new alien race screams Metroid to me.

I can't wait to try Legendary in Halo 4 and the enemies are teleporting behind you after every shot :suicide:

No, you are correct, a few of the people working on Halo 4 did work on the Metroid Prime series.

Whenever I look at the numbers in Halo Reach, of people playing the DLC maps, its not enough at all to warrant wanting to get those maps. So probably going to skip the season pass myself, but its hard to say. Could be completely different for Halo 4.

I wasn't totally sold on the idea of having a mech in the game, until I saw it loving stomping a Warthog and a Ghost into the ground! :black101:

It does look OP as poo poo, though, I wonder what the balance is (besides each team apparently getting one). Maybe it moves too slowly to avoid rockets/grenades or something. Of course, they aren't exactly showing the other side fighting back too hard in the promo video so maybe it's fairly fragile, but it still took out all those vehicles and dudes really quickly.

The video is obviously very misleading in order to make the mech look cooler than it probably really is. I'm expecting the thing can be destroyed pretty easily.

Same opinion. It's hard to care when I have no idea what the context is. Maybe it'll be explained later on, but really this is suppose to be setup from the start. Not enough is explained.

They are created because that is what is expected whether they get played or not. No ones going to put down $60 without at least some single player content thrown in. Plus when your single game makes almost as much money as the rest of the game industry does combined, you can afford to cater to a small group of people for your multi-billion dollar a year franchise.

Its happened before with these leaks, so hopefully it happens again. It sucks that you have to be hurt by piracy like this, and well before the game even releases. It's unfair to the people who intend to buy the game too that some little shits get to enjoy it weeks in advance without spending a single dime on it, and likely never will even come November 6.

From what i've seen so far, this is going to be really good. In my opinion, i've liked all of the announced changes, and i'm constantly floored by the graphic improvements. I thought Reach was pretty impressive looking, but this just blows it out of the water, and shows that the Xbox 360 still has a lot of untapped power left in it. The multiplayer will tie me over until the next Xbox for sure. So hyped for this game.

The best thing about Halo, is that in a sea of shooters where every gun kills you in one or two hits, making all of the guns exactly the same at that point; Halo multiplayer didn't do that. You can take quite a few hits before dying, making 1 on 1's very intense, and it didn't just come down to who shot who first.

That was pretty cool, but I have to be honest, I really wish you guys hadn't decided to write a story about Master Chief. I liked it better when he was a mystery. He just seemed more badass when I thought of him as just a very talented soldier. Now that we know he is just some kid who was kidnapped from his parents, and engineered into a kill machine, originally to slaughter other humans, it's not as cool anymore.

I'll need to buy a new Xbox if I want Halo 4 (which I really do), but I'm not sure if a 360 is worth $200 near the end of its life cycle. Anyone want to help me in my conflict by convincing me one way or another? :(

I got one last year expecting the life cycle to be over this year. The way I justified it to myself was that the system has a crap load of games on it that are worth playing and aren't on any other system. Once the next Xbox comes out, it will only have like three, maybe five games worth playing for the first two years of its cycle; that's how it always works it seems, and the system will be very expensive. So there's still plenty of life in the Xbox really.
