If the message is written on the bra, he shouldn't be able to read it, however if it's sewn onto the garment, then he might be able to pick it up with his radar sense.

It's because they're so similar to those drat dirty gypsies!  But seriously, nomadic people tend to get shuffled to the low end of the social ladder, and the stereotypes of "circus freaks" doesn't help. It does, however, lend itself to weird characters and abilities/powers, so it's not surprising that the superhero genre has so much focus on them.

Anyway, in Thor #341, Thor needed to get a new secret identity because his old alter ego stopped existing, so he went to Nick Fury for help getting it set up.  Later, in Thor #344, he's settling into his civilian cover about as well as you'd expect, and his boss at the construction site is becoming a bit suspicious:

A little bit of context: Doom separated Hulk and Banner (Hulk requested it). Banner went nuts and they got recombined, and now Banner is once again trying to cure himself of the Hulk. He's got all the ingredients, but he wants to check real quick to see just what Doom did to him. So he has to bust into Latveria while not hulking out (which is pretty badass) to get answers.
