Man, scoff all you want, but Dragon Age 3 as written by Obsidian would be amazing. It could be KOTOR2-esque follow-up that just shits all over the original while somehow simultaneously outshining it in terms of combat, character interaction and world-building. Make it happen Bioware!

Thing about folks theorizing that it's NWN3 (or any D&D title, honestly) is that when 4e came out, didn't WotC specifically state that there would be no new games made based on a pre-4e engine? And then with the impending D&DNext, WotC sounds like it's basically washing its hands of 4e like it's some kind of child they adopted, murdered, and are keeping its brain preserved in a jar in their basement, so it probably isn't a 4e-based engine or setting either. It's too early for a Next-based engine, so... Pathfinder? Haha.

Hasbro regained control of D&D computer game rights around a year ago, so it's possible they want to do more with the license than Atari did.

Grey Area posted:Sawyer was lead on the big project that was canceled this spring, right? If Obsidian is ready to start marketing whatever this thing is they have probably been working on it for quite a while. They may have re-assigned Sawyer to this project, but probably not as lead. It is not the same project? I seem to remember at the time of cancellation it was also referred to as Project X so maybe they managed to secure funding for it. The only description I heard of it at the time was Lord of the Rings but if Sauron had won.

Whatever it is, I think there's a pretty good chance that this is going to be a Kickstarter thing given that it's entirely Obsidian themselves promoting it and not a publisher. Plus, ropekid tweeted something today about Feargus filming something - a pitch video? Which is A-OK by me because Kickstarter likely means an Obsidian passion project and not someone else's IP yet again. And I think they have the potential to raise even way more than Wasteland 2. So y'all better be budgeting your week to Kickstart something on Friday, just in case.

I just hope whatever it is that they're given enough time to complete it and are not hosed by publishers after it's done. I guess I also hope it isn't a Dragon Age game because the setting is so god drat bland.

That symbol is the Aes Sedai ring. My money is on a wheel of time game. Weird though since in 2010 they announced that they would co-develop a game based on wheel of time series with "Red Eagle Games". Guess they think everyone forgot about it.

EDIT: Not quite. quote:May Farrow and her gang of raiders have spent weeks tracking down the black hound, the essence of May's guilt for unleashing a great evil. The player character is resting by the firelight in an old barn to hide from the storm outside when a black hound arrives and after being shot twice by an arrow, it cries one last time before it dies on the player lap. If it's a Wheel of Time game, I hope it's set at some point after the Last Battle (the end of the books). The blurbs on the website make it fairly incompatible with the second or third age of Wheel of Time (which have no religion), but it would be possible to set it in, say, the fourth age since we don't know much about it except that it exists. That would let them abandon a lot of things like the entire obnoxious Aes Sedai organization, though it would also raise the question of why you'd want to set it in the WoT universe at all if you're going to change things a lot.
