The WiiU is gonna dominate Christmas this year. I had thought they might have some trouble cause of people thinking it's a new controller for the Wii, or a Wiii, but if people are already selling out of preorders of the black one a couple days after the thing was announced, I guess those concerns were overblown. Plus the scarcity will help turn it into the "must-have" this year.

*No online multiplayer. Surprise!

-FPS vs RTS

-GamePad use is much more casual in multiplayer
*Miiverse features:
-Get real time alerts when a friend is infected, loot their zombie
-Your zombie will appear in friends' games
-Track stats; how many players your zombie has killed/infected; online leaderboards
-Leave graffiti messages for other players with signs and symbols
-Find messages from other players with your scanner

Local multiplayer, gently caress yeah! The worst thing about this current(previous?) generation of videogames is multiplayer games ditching local in favor of online.

Does all this talk about "your" zombie mean there's gonna be character customization?

I saw some info on the upcoming Animal Crossing in a gaf thread ( http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=492197 ) and now I want to start a band named Shank the Skunk. And I want a Wii U Crossing game that interacts with the 3DS game.

Holy poo poo, my mind was blown when I heard that the Wii one had separate tops and bottoms, this one is gonna have separate shoes and socks?!

Has there been any talk of a WiiU Endless Ocean? If this thing really can make games that look better than 360 games, I really want to see a super pretty Endless Ocean on it.

Yeah this has always bugged me.

I'm pretty skeptical of the whole Wii U though, I think it's gonna be another 3DS.

Great! The WiiU is gonna start slow, but then pick up real quick after a price drop, and it gets the new games form popular franchises while the completing systems remain too expensive and without any games?

That's cool that PS+ members get a discount on preordering big games. I'm not sure why they're acting like it's a bigger deal than that tho.

I don't think Konami can afford having MGS5 be on one platform only.

Why? 4 is still PS3 exclusive, and the orignal MGS5, Peace Walker was exclusive for the longest time on the PSP.

Hey that's not fair, this poo poo stick has charm and while it's a representation of the past and repeated play mechanics, at least they are simply selling me their consumer friendly over multiple demographics mascot instead of military warporn!

:v:

Did you just call Metal Gear Solid "military warporn"? The series that presents the idea of a soldier as inherently abhorrent?

It really doesn't say much about the military and says a lot about private military companies. Its very similar to Avatar in that regard. But MGS as a whole seems really confused about the messages it tries to promote.

Every Metal Gear Solid game has as a major theme that it is horrible for a human being to be used as a weapon. The distinction they make between PMCs and the military is only that the PMCs are the ultimate extension of that, because it isn't dressed up as patriotism or idealism.

Once again, game journalism refuses to wait for context and looks dumb: http://wiiudaily.com/2013/07/asda-statement-on-wii-u/

While it's of course better to have the Wii U on the shelf, especially when it's selling slow in the UK, Asda isn't "dropping" the Wii U.

That is literally exactly what the link posted previously in this thread said

So now a pretty major game has come out for the console things are going to improve right? Oh. Basically one of the big supermarkets in the UK is going to stop stocking Wii U stuff in its stores completely.

NPC Pikmin 2 came out in PAL-land years ago but NOA didn't release it until the middle of last year. I guess NPC Pikmin 1 underperformed so they just sat on it until they had nothing else to release, not to mention the added incentive of building hype for Pikmin 3 (assuming they bothered to tell anyone it was out).

Speaking of Wii games that NA didn't get for some weird reason, here's one no-one ever talks about : the Fatal Frame 2 remake. I don't know why Operation Rainfall didn't latch onto that game, it's loving fantastic.

I've wanted to play Earth Seeker ever since the first the first piece of art they released for it.

So the Top 10 for game sales in Japan...

[3DS] Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life
[3DS] Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
[3DS] Tomodachi Collection: New Life
[3DS] One Piece: Romance Dawn
[3DS] Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies
[3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf
[3DS] Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon
[3DS] Yokai Watch
[Wii U] Pikmin 3
[3DS] Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

Domination. More a 3DS domination than Wii U but still nice to see Pikmin 3 in the Top 10. Wii U also sold 12,047 units, up from 9,950 from the week before. I don't really know why anyone in Japan is buying a 360 at this point.

I assume that the 360s, what, 12 sales a month? at this point are just people replacing broken ones.

Nope. You need an SD card to do it and the Wii Mini doesn't have an SD card slot.

They completely gutted the wifi from the thing too, so you'd have no way at all to download the transfer tool. Why does that thing exist? Seriously?

I'd understand if it was like, 60 or 70 bucks, but it is significantly more expensive than a used normal Wii.
