I'm fairly worried about Miami's goaltending coming into this season, but they've really recruited well in net over the last few years (Zatkoff, Knapp, Reichard, Effinger) so I'm not sure how it's gonna go. Austin Czarnik scored two goals in Miami's opener prep-game. He's he guy that's gonna make Miami's offense go now that Miele, Smith and Biggs* are gone. lol Notre Dame tied the U-18 team *gently caress tyler biggs

Just emailed their Director of Hockey Ops guy who was working as a Grad Assistantwho let me know he was leaving and got me in contact with Dallas Ferguson.. So basically I am employed as a Director of Hockey Operations but being compensated by them claiming it as an internship, since the program does not have the funding to compensate. Works for both parties. The cold in Fairbanks, however.

Myrrar posted:That's an awesome opportunity. And I assume you get to enjoy a lot of college hockey, which is the best bonus. Hows your team look this year? Well, as I said earlier. I don't know really anything about the other teams. But by the looks of our guys, I think we should do pretty well. We have a great group of returning seniors, all who are very focused. Our freshman class is highlighted by Colton Parayko, who was drafted in the third round by the Blues. 6'5" Defense men. From what I have gathered, UAF has been lacking offensive production from the points. This kid should fill that role very nicely. Also, if he can put some weight on while he is here, he wont stay long. Very talented. The big question mark is goal tending. We have a returning senior, who hasn't played any of the 3 years he has been here, a sophomore and a freshman. They all look pretty solid. I think whoever can step up in this first tournament in Anchorage and stands out in practice will get the nod. I hope it's Steve Thompson (senior), he has busted his rear end all off-season preparing for the season and I like to see seniors get their opportunity. But with that being said, all three goaltenders have worked very hard and the race is pretty close, at least from what I am being told. I hope we have a good season, I would love to be here for something special.

Because he was supposed to team with Czarnik to help bridge the gap to the next class now that Smith and Miele are both gone but he Okposo'd us to go play for a team that isn't even suiting up because of a lockout.

Ugh, we went up 2-0 on Union within 3 minutes, place was going crazy. Union gets 3 back on the power play through the 2nd. In the 3rd we proceed to give up 2 absolutely moronic goals while on one powerplay to put it well out of reach. In fairness, Union is very drat good, and losing 3-5 isn't too bad to them, and I suppose I should be happy that now we're showing some consistency instead of just getting murdered.

Held Notre Dame to one goal and scoreless through 2, so that's something, I guess. Miami wins home opener over Colgate 3-0 led by freshman goalie and USHL superstar Ryan McKay. He gets a 24 save shutout to go with two goals by fellow freshman Blake Coleman, Devils 2001 3rd round pick who will not be a donk like Tyler Biggs and shanghai us when we need goalscorers. I really like this Mullin-Czarnik-Barber line and I really think this Coleman kid could end up replacing Morris on the 2nd line between Mason and Gacek, although, I really think that the Wideman-Kuraly-Hagel 3rd line will probably pack more of a scoring punch over the course of the season regardless. Any Princeton fans in here? Know anything about Hagel? He looks like he projects to maybe be a fringe 2nd liner ![]() Western and Ferris lost to St. Lawrence and RPI, respectively, and tOSU is losing 6-2 to UMD Michigan loving lost to RIT 5-4 in OT to open the season but just walloped them 7-2 Obama Yo Mama fucked around with this message at Oct 13, 2012 around 02:55 |

Got back from a PSU-Berks hockey game. Led 6-2 midway through the 2nd and then promptly preceded to completely poo poo the bed and end up loosing 7-6. At one point Berks only had 4 skaters (despite it being 5-on-5) on the ice for like, a minute, and the stands had to yell at the coach to count to five. Despite the loss, it was a fun-ish game. I got myself a puck during warm-ups, which owned. woooo

Any Minnesota fans? I'm curious what you think of Brady Skjei. Looks like he got his first two college points last night, going 1+1 and getting some PP time, etc. He was a late round pick but is a big guy who skates very very well, it just seemed like he didn't have any other ability that stood out. Wasn't a big point producer, not a super physical guy, etc. Seems like he might have some offense in him though and maybe the potential to be a good all around type of defensemen, so I wondered if anyone had any first impressions.

So Alaska left Anchorage with a pretty less than stellar performance. We beat Air Force (Tied, won in Shootout for tie breaking purposes in the tournament) which was pretty big win but then the next night came out completely flat and lost 1-3 to Canisius. There is a lot of work to be done before Friday when North Dakota and Merrimack come up to Faribanks for this weekends tournament.. Also, North Dakota's Hockey Operations guy is trying to big league me into swapping video with him.. No North Dakota our game vs Air Force is not worth video of ND vs U.S. Under-18 Team.. and I do not care how many National championships you have!

Even though all the fixing in the world won't give football/basketball even remotely close to the success the hockey team had/has/will have.
