It's a pretty relaxed game. It's a pretty relaxed corp. It is a relaxed corp, it is also a relaxed game. We do model the corporation stucture after the tried and true Eve Goons configuration, but at this point being anal isn't prudent. There are no assets to lose at this point to warrant such action. One of the definining characteristics of Goons policy is that every person is an asset, an investment. Through SA, people come in with Zero experience and immediatetely get showered with tips, tricks, and funding from those that have been at it a while. Your sponsored friend is very much welcome. Outside of direct and obvious sabotage, kicking people isn't a concern. With our recruitment policy of almost total exclusivity with SA, it really is not a concern at all. There may be a day where Dust corps have reason to be sketchy, but at current timetables, that is more than a year away at best.

Thanks for accepting my buddy in to the corps and I fully accept that I could get kicked because of him, but I very much doubt it will ever come to that.

I think you'll all fully appreciate this article in all it's crowning glory, It's about something Courthouse said in a podcast and was quickly picked up on by several people. http://dustmercs.blogspot.co.uk/201...inion-from.html Don't forget, Corp match against TEST on saturday 23:00GMT. I'm probably going to be harvesting tears from the community with an article i'm writing for TheMittani.com soon too, no doubt we'll have a corp thirsting for goon blood in the near future. We were down one player, and they had one extra, so Dent himself actually played on our team, and we kept ahead on points captured for most of the game. The tactics were very different from pugging. We need to get more corp contracts going. Shame i welped 1m on other contracts that didnt get done though. Where did everyone vanish to? I crashed and had to restart and everyone had gone when i came back.

I just bought a PS3 that appears to have come with a "$30 DUST voucher" and I'm planning to set it (the PS3) up tonight in a few hours and start downloading poo poo. Does that voucher get me into the beta or something?

Does that voucher get me into the beta or something? It gets you into the beta, when the game launches you'll get the items mentioned on there, but not till when it launches. If you don't plan to play the game i'm sure someone would buy it off you or something and if you do join, those items could be worth quite a bit in the future as they are only available from that card as far as anyone can see.

Well, I like being bad at videogames with goons and I have an expired EVE account with a not-insubstantial amount of currency in it in case transferring resources between EVE and DUST characters ever becomes possible, so I'll probably join you guys in this game at some point, probably when I get bored of Tokyo Jungle or whatever.

Iunnrais posted:Can you get in the beta if you have an expired Eve account you don't intend to renew in the near future? gently caress yeah, we're not run by Goonwaffe, we have players in here that don't even have any idea what EVE is. Its just helpful if you know about EVE etc as there's the possibility that the corp will be rolled into 'waffe at a later date if CCP manages to even bring half of what they promise to bear fruit.

Are CCP still doing that weird 'not f2p' thing where you have to buy the game but are given the equivalent value in Aurum?

No, once the game's out you'll be able to just download it and play without any kind of initial purchase, or so they say.

Basically that site's run several articles about Goonwaffe and how those MAG players are going to run EVE in the future blah blah blah.. It got my attention so i did some digging and it turns out some of them are not that good at hiding their history and i started asking questions about individuals etc because i was trying to piece it all to together out of curiosity as to who was behind the site and who thinks they can actually "win" EVE/Dust. Eventually they got wind and sparked up a conversation, questions was asked and a few emails thrown back and forth, some of what i said was legit, a lot of it is heavily edited, I've heard they've been logging peoples passwords and login details on their site along with some other dodgy stuff, phising etc. I spoke to a few Dust corps about them and outed a couple of "spys" this website had and they then felt it was time to try and run a smear campaign against me. Bless them.

I just don't get how they can be so butthurt over a very in-beta game. You've even said here, several times, that Immobile Infantry is its own thing for now. There's not even any real room for real assholery yet! This is just an insane rambling brought on by the kind of EVE player who clutches their lunch money when the word "Goons" is uttered.
|
| # ? Oct 15, 2012 22:34 |

That's exactly what it is, the main people behind that site are part of an alliance that's run by an actual EVE corp/Alliance called Rise Of Legion and seem to have a massive anti goon hard on. I've said multiple times on the Dust forums too that II is it's own thing for now till the time comes that Mittens wants to fold it into the bigger picture.

So after buying myself into the Beta, spending 12 hours to download 2.5 gigs, and installing the game, I find myself at an update screen with a download bigger then the original beta client, and 812 minutes remaining. Why does the Sony network suck so bad?

That's not bad as far as patches go. Almost every loving game these days, especially the glut of MMOFPSs as of late (Planetside 2, arguably MechWarrior Online) have bloody huge weekly patches that really hurt those of us on capped plans. It shouldn't take 4GB a week for planetside 2 to tweak a few things, but hey. What the hell do I know, I just review the bloody things.
