I have to officially give up on the Knights challenge. I died on my third continue on stage five, and I don't have enough time to try again (going out in 10 minutes, and I'll come back after the deadline).

Ugh, I'm going to have to give up on Knights of the Round as well. Made it to Muramasa with 4 continues left, and I couldn't beat him. There's no way I'd be able to make it through the whole game in time, let alone with only 3 continues.

Oh god, I tried Knights of the Round, and I got to Level 7, and ran out of credits at the Phantom after Iron Golem. Now I won't be making it due evenings plans, so I'm giving up on it. Fake edit: not that I would've made it anyway I suppose.

Also giving up on Knights of the Round. On my best run, I made it to Stage 6 with 3 credits. I kept going, as I just wanted to finish the game, and made it to the final boss on my last credit. I put up a valiant effort, but got destroyed before I could even deplete one of his health bars.

I finally got into Gimmick. After much sweat and blood and tears.. ...level 6's boss is still wrecking me. Good lord, how many hits does this guy take? He just loves to hover out of reach too. The jerk. EDIT: I DID IT! With one hit left. On my last life. Holy christ I now know a fraction of what good old Arino feels. ![]() It's a bad end but it's an end. I have no desire to subject myself to the nightmares of clearing this with no continues AND getting those treasures. I know the later ones (4 and 5) are absolutely ludicrous to reach. It ain't happening with these hands. FreezingInferno fucked around with this message at Oct 20, 2012 around 19:32 |

I will give up Kights of the Round. I hope you pick Pulseman for Megadrive to be the next challenge after Gimmick. Arino is playing Pulseman for GCCX this Thursday on Oct 25th. I would love to challenge it my self before watching Arino do it.

Got Knights of the Round on 4 continues. Apparently there is no place after you enter the final stage to see how many continues you have left, though, so I took a picture of the end credits or w/e.

Oh poo poo, I lost track of time. Knights of the Round has ended, and everyone who participated and isn't marked as Completed or Given up will be marked to reflect that the challenge was not completed. Gimmick! is still underway, so keep at it. Remember, you only have to see an ending to complete the challenge, it doesn't have to be the good ending. I tried to leave Gimmick paused the whole time, but somewhere along the way it stopped recognizing the controller. I had to reset to get it to register again. So, lost progress. Still no idea what level 6 is like, either. Starting over from the top, this time with foreknowledge! If I lose a continue, so be it. Wow, this game is pissing me off today and I don't know why. I got that stupid lever in Stage 5 immediately and didn't know what it did, so I got halfway to the boss and game overed. That pissed me off because I've done that conveyor belt time millions of times without even getting hit, and I still hadn't found out what the lever did. Turns out getting that lever was a fluke, and it took me another 20 minutes to get it again. So, unless I'm wrong, all that loving lever does is make the easiest section of that level easier by removing the cannon dude in the trolley section? gently caress e: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA STAGE 5 DOWN HELL YES Andronian fucked around with this message at Oct 21, 2012 around 20:17 |

![]() Forgot how fun doing the post-game ending screen photoshop was. Really enjoyed Gimmick. I can't wait to see the actual GCCX episode that covers it, because I'm not sure if Arino could master it. Might go back at some point for the real ending but I think I'd need a guide because I never really got the star riding mechanic down. Also! Decided to partake in the Gimmick! challenge, opted for the Famicom version and managed to beat it today with the bad ending:![]() Then a few hours later with the good: ![]() Unfortunately I was busy yesterday so never got a chance to have a go at the Knights of The Round challenge. ![]() By the way, how would you feel about highscores or completion time being added to the spreadsheet? I imagine most won't have a screenshot or remember theirs for Gimmick!, however, it might be cool to add them for future challenges. Then again it could be a pain in the rear end keeping up with them all, particularly if there are a lot of challengers. For what it's worth here's my Gimmick! final score: ![]() I must admit I really enjoyed this challenge. Gimmick! is a drat fine game and I glad I got to play it, some of the secrets are rather fiendish but you get a real sense of achievement discovering them. The only thing I needed to Google was how the good ending was achieved, as I managed to find all the secrets the first time I beat it but didn't realize you had to complete the game on one continue.

I just had to go back and rescue that girl, didn't I.![]() After five hours of gameplay, I finally beat the final boss with all treasures in hand. Or so I thought. ![]() Great, another level. Luckily this one is pretty straightforward. Though I go in with a healthy stock of lives, the true final boss quickly whittles them down the nothing. ![]() and then... ![]() N...No. Not this way ![]() Thinking that was my last chance at the good ending, I nearly hit "Start" at the title screen to try another run. But for whatever reasion, I hit "Continue" and boy am I glad I did. Turns out the "no continues" requirement doesn't apply to the extra level. Thanks to the previous 6 duels, I'd already learned the boss' attack pattern. All that was left was to find his weakness and exploit it. Then, after two more battles... ![]() Gimmick Challenge Pt II: Complete! ![]() ![]()

The challenge for Gimmick! has reached its final eighteen hours. The statistics for the current challenge are 45 challengers, with 20 completions, only 7 of which were good endings. The completion percentage could keep rising, so keep at it! For those of you who have finished, or want to take on a new challenge right away, we're going to move on to the second full challenge. This Sega Genesis game is quite a bit more well known than Gimmick!, and in fact, recently received a modernized sequel on PC, 360, and PS3. Released by Konami in 1993, your next challenge is Rocket Knight Adventures! ![]() Konami 1993, Genesis/Mega Drive This game features an Opossum named Sparkster who uses his sword and his jetpack to bring peace to the kingdom of Zebulos. It features difficult gameplay across 7 stages and is widely considered to be one of the best games on the Genesis. Your goal: Reach the ending on any difficulty except for "Children" difficulty! ("Children" difficulty is the same as Normal or Easy difficulty in the Japanese and European versions respectively.) This challenge will end on Friday, October 26th, 2012 at 6:00 PM EDT. As always, if you're participating, make sure to tell me so I can list you as participating on the spreadsheet. The special statistic for this challenge is Which difficulty you finished the game on.
