How do I play a MAA? I just unlocked everything for the vanguard and knight. I'm trying to use the speed of the MAA to get behind the bigger guys but their weapons have such huge arcs I get killed in one shot anyway. I've been trying to dodge but the controls for that are really clunky (in my experience, at least) and it seems to hurt me more than help me. Right now the MAA, to me, just seems like a weaker version of a vanguard or a knight that can't use their primaries.

As of now, MAA is worse than the other classes in literally every respect, due to recent nerfs to how his weapons and functionality work. Basically; he has less health, his special ability (dodge) is still incredibly buggy/inconsistent/unreliable, he does less damage, his weapons are easier to block and have less reach, his shields are still buggy and almost worthless, and his speed is not what it used to be. Don't bother playing MAA till the dev team fixes him, because as of now he's only good at fistfighting and killing people who are absolute rubbish.

While you are a more experienced, and in all likelyhood a better player than me and more qualified to draw conclusions, me, as an (admittedly not good) player aren't doing any worse with MAA than other classes, and the way you talk about the MAA nerfs have been giving me the impression that your experience is very subjective. I'll admit I entered the game late, and I'm not sure if I played much at all as MAA before the last patch, but your observations don't really check out all that well with my experience so far. Then again I'm also used to less-than-stellar pings (high 100s) and public servers so I don't know how much worth my experience does have in this discussion.

Make sure you are on Mason and scream no, no, no, nay and hellllllllllllp meee, i need help!, oh hellpp while someone chases you. Then quickly turn and stab then run off screaming helllllllp again. Binding the dodge to a single key instead of double tap helped me a lot, as does only playing MAA on smaller servers/duel. They are very powerful if you know how to handle it, but you have to realize some situations will just get you killed(big melees, teammates). To begin with, focus your dodging efforts on getting in and out of weapons range. Hop in or hop out directly in front of them. Don't worry too much about getting behind people because like you say, some the 2h swords have a huge swing range that will kill you when you think you are safely behind them.

The Vanguards Zweihänder seems to be the worst culprit in terms of weird arcs. Thing keeps killing me standing directly behind the wielder

Slappy Moose posted:This is a question that I'll never understand as well. If you have a shield feinting does nothing to you, and if you actually wait to blcok instead of just mashing RMB at every single enemy movement, you can beat a feinter easily. I don't understand what people who hate feinting expect people to use to get around the back-and-forth swings people usually end up trading in a 1 on 1 Knight fight. I dunno it can be pretty stupid getting into feint fights with someone, half the time it just ends up being luck with whoever gets the first hit in. That's with higher level dudes though, with lower level ones just flip a coin to see if they know what a feint is. If you could cancel out of blocks as well or feints had a longer cool down it might be less frustrating.

Just played a few FFA matches where a knight and archer would hole up in a corner and plink away at people while the knight would just eviscerate anyone in range with instant overheads and all the other horseshit associated with two handed weapons. Jesus christ that was loving insufferable. The knight would always end up first because of everyone running into to kill the archer, while the archer himself was scraping the bottom of the scoreboard. Acted real sanctimonious when I pointed that out too.
