Whoa this is surprising. I just got notification from Newegg my preorder is shipping today. Three day shipping means I'll get the game Thursday or Friday I'm unbelievably pumped for this game.

Thanks for the story summary. As someone who only played a bit of the first one, that was really helpful. It sounds totally insane, but that's how I like my video game stories.

Man I am excited. This marks the first (of many games I have enjoyed) where the engine and mechanics are fairly updated and refreshed... Tomorrow cannot come soon enough. I hope the PSN servers are not a poo poo-show for Day 1 Digital-ers.

Just want to point out that some of the mission synch objectives (of the early game missions) are horribly loving obtuse in the usual Ubisoft way. I.e. popup text quickly telling you what to do before buggering off and leaving you to try and figure out what the hell it actually meant. Otherwise, the game is pretty good. edit: Combat is also somewhat poorly explained. Like I'm pretty sure it's still not told me anything about actually chaining combo kills, just countering and I'm pretty much well out of the intro. Performance-wise it seems fine on the Xbox. There are 2 disks of stuff to install and i've only ever seen one texture rendering issue in one of the earlier cutscenes. Kin fucked around with this message at Oct 29, 2012 around 23:28 |

Only played for half an hour (x360) but the polish is quite visible compared to revelations. Nice touches on model animation too (eye movement is a lot more natural during engine-rendered cinematics, textures seem nicer too). Very cool little natural-feeling small stuff like your character occasionally politely begging pardon for inconveniencing others (that's a first!), great interiors....the epoch thing really does feel a lot more believable. I for one hate Desmond and everything Desmond related so I'll gloss over that. So, moving on, it's been a while since I played but I don't remember being able to freerun, jump etc by just holding the RT down, well that's doable now. Of course that might've been so in the previous games as well and I was holding down another button like a retard for no good reason at all. In ~30 min of gameplay my one complaint so far is one quicktime event. I can let that go. Also, not trying to spoil anything, and maybe it's me, but in the first part of the game a very prominent character appears to be the 1700s spittin'image of Mitt Romney. I'm way too tired to play it anymore and by the time I get home tomorrow a lot of you guys will have sunk your teeth in it, so there. Good first impression on my part.

Once you perform a counter kill point in another direction and hit attack and you'll instantly kill the other guy. The only thing is that the previous games had a very noticeable indicator for who you were pointing the stick at, but it's not been that clear to me while i've been playing it. The previous games also had a near infinite range of the combat zone in which to chain up the next victim, but it seems like you can only continue the chain to someone immediately within your vicinity in this one.

I got my copy early today, I'm 3 sequences in and I still haven't played as Connor, this is however a very very minor thing as the character I have played so far is so loving awesome that I almost wish he was here the entire game, which he might be in some fashion, I don't know yet. He's like an awesome mix of James Bond and Ezio. There are some pretty sweet changes to combat, and the animations just seem a lot more fluid than the previous game. So far I have no complaints at all, looks to be an epic game if it keeps up with the part I have played so far.

Well, poo poo. I checked with all my local gamestops and no one is getting any extra copies of the limited edition. I went to order it online, and while it's still available, I found out my "fun money" fund is a lot more limited than I thought. So, if anyone just wants to sell the flag that comes with it, lemme know. Gonna grab the game in a few weeks.
