This seems like the type of thing which would push it over the edge, pair it with SHIELD's second season on ABC. They were claiming something like 50 scripts written but were "waiting for the technology to catch up" so they could do it on TV. AKA, bullshit excuse.

Apparently current rumor is Oscar winning screenwriter Michael Arndt is on tap as screenwriter. Also Zack Snyder got in front of any rumors already stating that he's not interested in directing.

More directors on possibility of Star Wars: JJ Abrams has given a definite "no" saying that he's too busy with Star Trek. Guillermo del Toro has said he hasn't even been offered but if he was he'd be too busy.

Something to remember about Lucas is that he hasn't exactly directed a ton of movies. After A New Hope he didn't direct anything until The Phantom Menace. Its not like he was exactly honing his skills between them.

The craziest thing about The Clone Wars cartoon was they got Liam Neeson to come back as ghost Qui Gon Jinn for an episode.

There was an interview with him around when the episode aired where he talked about how he enjoyed making Episode 1. The reason he didn't show up in Episode 3 is because he had hosed up his back right before they started filming.
