Black Ops 2 main thread Not an awful lot to say here. If you want info, you're better off visiting a site like: http://www.blackopsii.com Important things you should care about : - Matchmaking and official dedicated servers ONLY. Blops2 will support parties allowing you to pub stomp all day long, free from the tyranny of server admins. - Pointstreak rewards are now 1 set, both in terms of types and how you pick them. No specialist, no support/assault. And you no longer have a different set for each custom class. Dogs are back. So is the blackbird. - They've changed up the create a class, you now have 10 points to assign. Everything costs one and you can choose to go without a piece of equipment. You can also choose wildcards, which cost 1 point and allow you to add a 3rd attachment/extra lethal grenade/extra perk etc. - Dolphin diving is back  We are still using Modern Goonfare 2 steam chat to organize playing games Let me make this very clear: BE IN THE STEAM CHAT. There is no reason to be in the group if you aren't in the chat. We like to get to know the people we play with and, unless you're already friends with one of the regulars, no one is going to send you party invites if you aren't in chat. This is a PC elitism free zone. You're playing call of duty on PC, there is literally nothing to be smug about. I think biggest thing I'm looking forward to is dedicated servers and 3v3v3v3 TDM. I really hope they went in different direction than MW3 with their spawning system. This is just me but I felt MW3 was a step backwards from MW2. I understand that this is a different team than the IW team so there is hope. Edit: fixed swype errors. I thought the cod blops was the one where they cared more about the PC on? No hosing your own dedicated servers? I was hoping this would be a throwback to blops 1 after completly skipping over that modern crapfare abomination they threw out last time (which was clearly the same game with reskinned maps). cod blops 1 was like the present day Counter Strike, and being able to enjoy that sense of community by going into the same servers and seeing the same people each time was great and brought back that glory days of Counter Strike vibe. There's no server browser as far as I know, it's just normal xbox style matchmaking but all the matchmade matches are on internal treyarch/activision dedicated servers. Also yeah I suppose Blops 1 was like modern day counterstrike, in that you had to sort through piles of poo poo to find the five good servers and then immediately get banned when you do well for "hacking".

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and say that PC cod community is one of the single worst communities in gaming. There is nothing I enjoy more than ruining their experience as much as possible. Just look at what's left of each. CoD4 is a bunch of bad 16v16 tdm servers, CoD4 promod is a bunch of nerds dancing about for their fragmovie, W@W is not worth mentioning, MW2 iwnet is a joke, alteriwnet is a bigger joke, blops has less players than iwnet and treyarch even had to bring some official servers back online because the player run ones are that bad. I highly doubt mw3 will do well once blops2 is released. Even if the game itself is bad, having dedicated servers as standard, fov options and fresh gameplay changes and maps is all it'll take to draw people to it. The best part of the pc cod and cod community as a whole is ensuring you make their game experiences as miserable as possible (without hacking because then you ruin my experience).

So what's the deal with the pre-order map? Is this gonna be like a huge community splitter? Will you get kicked when a server rotates to Nuketown if you didn't preorder? Will you not be in the same "pool" as the people who didn't preorder if you DID? I don't like the pre-order map idea... I'm concerned about there being technical issues like Blops 1 but I really want to get the game. I don't want to get boned if I pre-ordered or if I didn't. v  v

Thinking about getting back on the train with this one after I took a hiatus for Black Ops and MW3. I racked up 400 hours of playtime with the goon crew in MW2 and only 30 for the latter two games combined. Black Ops never became playable on my PC even after updating every component - that hitching problem was the weirdest thing.

Then I found out I couldn't connect to the multiplayer servers due to some bug they never figured out.  I hope that doesn't happen with black Ops 2.

Amazing how the audio stutter glitch in Blops never got fixed, but then also seems to have gotten worse with time! Who were you back when MG2 used to play MW2 regularly?

This is actually exactly what I wanted, Matchmaking + Internal Dedicated Servers, pretty surprised they went with that instead of just giving us lovely P2P-hosted games. The "CS-vibe" is cool, until dumb admins with retarded made-up rules start enforcing their servers, or getting banned for hacking (playing well), or having 0 servers hosting certain game modes, or your favorite server becomes vacated, and 0 servers even hosting DLC content. I bought all 4 DLC packs when they went on sale a while back, and I have never played a DLC map. There quite literally isn't a single populated US server that has the DLC maps. Even the true modern-day Counterstrike (CS:GO) uses the same system and made the server browser almost completely irrelevant.

I found out a couple of friends had pre-ordered it and broke down and grabbed it on Steam. I really hope the new MP system means it doesn't carry over the MW3 "never able to connect to the main server" bug. Can anybody tell me roughly how big the pre-load is if you don't download the SP portion of it? I'll undoubtedly play the campaign at some point, just because, but if I can just download it later without causing any problems for the MP/Zombies part of it I'd rather just save the time.
