Strange Quark posted:Flamethrower ain't really going to do crap in the rain; maybe replace it with Giga Drain so you have a counter for Water/Ground types? Those Volcarona sets are usually counter-sun builds, thus the flamethrower. It's this sort of strange thing where volcarona can benefit somewhat from the rain and still have a workable movepool while wet. I'd say keep the flamethrower.

Latias @Lifeorb -Calm Mind -Draco meteor -Roost -Thunder Whoops. I meant to put Thunder on Latias instead of Surf in order to counter other Starmies. Earthquake on Toxicroak is a pretty good idea. As for Volcarona's flamethrower. It is to mess up sun teams, and also to hit Ferrothorn if one gets thrown out.

You might consider Giga Drain over Hurricane for some longevity, especially if you're using a Life Orb that Volcarona might not be able to set up for a sweep. Plus Hurricane doesn't really add any good coverage while Giga Drain nails Water and Rock types that otherwise wall your sweep.

So here is the current iteration of the Friends Forever Squad. Most of the team besides Lucario is still woefully underlevelled but getting better. Most are at least in the mid-50s now. I'm still not 100% satisfied with movesets, I still feel like the team doesnt really have a lot of synergy but again that might just because switching into something that outlevels you 10-15 levels is probably not going to go well. Still any tweaks you can think of would be appreciated (and I'll talk about the 6th slot at the end) Lucario(M) @ Expert Belt Steadfast Brave (+Atk, -Spe) -Dragon Pulse -Dark Pulse -Ice Punch -Aura Sphere Swapped Psychic out in favor of Ice Punch Azumarill(F) @Mystic Water Huge Power Neutral Nature -Aqua Jet -Superpower -Return -Aqua Tail Yes I went out and bred Aqua Jet onto a Marril. The Thick Fat I had before was just terrible. Mulch(Leavanny)(F) @Miracle Seed Swarm Naive (+Spe, -SpDef) -Swords Dance -Return -X-Scissor -Leaf Blade Dropped Leaf Storm for Return Emboar(M) @Charcoal Blaze Naughty (+Atk, -SpDef) -Strength -Take Down -Hammer Arm -Flamethrower I left Strength on for a few more boulders but Im not sure what Im going to replace it with. Take Down is about to be replaced with either Stone Edge/Rock Slide/Wild Charge, not sure which yet. Crobat(F) Inner Focus Careful (+SpDef, -SpAtk) -Toxic -Fly -Zen Headbutt -Heat Wave Leaving Fly cause taking a pokemon out of a box every time I want to fly somewhere is annoying. That pairs decently well with toxic. The other two are open for debate, I was just looking for decent coverage. Im looking at making a Magic Bounce Espeon for the last slot. I was thinking a dual screen variant since my team has pretty lackluster defense overall. Then I was thinking Baton Pass might be fun but Im not sure what I would pass. This team is all post-game stuff and PWT by the way.

So I found something interesting the other day. The original Pokemon movie trailer was made with the assumption that the series would have ended on TV. Half of the trailer appears to be a grown up Misty with a kid and another girl in some sort of post series thing. I haven't seen it before, and I am usually a source of trivia for this kind of thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXJrckR66lk In more modern times, Kyogure and Gorodon are being distributed in honor of the 10th anniversary of Ruby and Sapphire. That pretty much makes it certain that the next games will be GenVI, since we've been expecting remakes to be announced. I wouldn't be surprised if they would try for a Red & Green 3DS(A story set after Gold/Silver)

I wonder if there will be anything special about them (In terms of moves) or if they'll just be distributions of the legendaries themselves.

http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wi...ibuted_in_Japan The only special thing about them is that each color only gets one of the legendaries. They don't have a dream world ability and I would guess unless they appear in the Genesect movie that it would be their moves from Ruby/Sapphire

Listen you stupid bobbleheaded dinosaur, I want a Jolly version of you and I want it now! I've spent the better part of the morning trying to get a Cranidos to come out of the egg in a happy mood, but it doesn't seem like they want to. The parent is breeding insanely slowly with my Ditto, which isn't helping the already-slow hatching process. Even with a Flame Body helming the party, that's a lotta biking. And this is after trying to get a Modest Larvesta which, thankfully, I did finally get. I got an Adamant Cranidos and I'm thinking of using that. The IV dude in the Battle Subway said it was above average, so I'm hoping it'll make up for being slightly slower. Got 1.2 million pokemoney from the Abyssal Ruins. But it seems like, in the long run, buying vitamins with BP is way smarter, if more time-consuming. Also, seems like riding one of the bridges to collect feathers would be less of a hassle than hunting down EV-specific guys to try and kill as you level your dude. I've never actually fully EV-trained guys, but I kinda wanna have at least one good set of guys to seriously take on the Subway/PWT/friends with, so I got no idea what the fastest way to deal with the grind is.

In my opinion picking up feathers seems much less efficient than just finding a guide like this and going to town fighting with GenV's encounter rate. You only pick up one feather every few minutes, and you have no way of controlling what feather you'll get, plus you still have to deal with Ducklett/Swanna anyway.

I got especially lucky when I got ones with Adamant, Jolly, and Modest natures.

Yeah, due to how expensive vitamins and whatnot are, it is very hard to use those to EV train without gifting yourself a bunch of moving with hacking your save. Use what you can that is in your bag, but PokeRus+Power Items make the actual EV training pretty easy. After that, it is just grinding your Pokemon up to whatever level you need it to be.

Or you could train your dudes in speed EVS (most sweepers max their speed) WHILE collecting feathers. You might not get enough to completely train a mon, but every little helps (personally I grind feathers while watching a tv show. Got about 200 of each kind on my black 1 cartridge, ready to fully ev train my white 2 starter when I get around to it for a challenge mode run). Also if you use the DW, get a micle berry and start planting them. You can find them on share shelves (mostly JPN houses, but if you see MasterBill that dude keeps 9 on his shelf whenever he can). They sell for the same price as a big nugget to the item maniac on route 5.

The most annoying thing about IVs is the binary way speed works. A 31 IV speed Gengar, all else being equal, will always outrun a 30 IV speed Gengar. Other stats are a bit more flexible since damage has a range, but speed is pretty crucial for competitive play.

It seems to me that while ivs are not very important (in fact they are really the lowest importance in your set of things needed to play competitive pokemon), I would be super pissed if the only reason I lost is because I happened to not have those extra stat points (or in the case of speed, got outspeeded while using a non-trick room based dude). It is a pain to get the IVs, but once you know how to do it it becomes substantially easier.

Sort of a my bulbasaur's better than yours thing. This is true, but speed is an exception, since the pokemon with the higher speed always goes first under normal conditions, and there's no RNG like with damage calculations, it can really pay off to have the absolute maximum speed. Personally, I make sure anything with a base speed over 100 has a speed+ nature and 31 IV, even if it means they don't hit quite as hard as an adament/modest sweeper would. edit: looks like while I left the reply tab open some people said the same thing.

That being said, you'd be surprised at what you catch just by catching Pokemon. No soft resetting, no tracking the RNG, nothing. This Clefable which I randomly caught in Cerulean Cave in Fire Red has a 30/31/10/23/30/28 IV spread with HP Rock 64. And I ran across this Poliwag in the Dream World with Modest and 23 Sp Atk and 31 in Speed. Just go through your entire box and I bet you'd find something to breed with that has a 31 IV in speed. Then just use the proper item to pass it on down.

So if you insert a Generation 4 game into the 3DS, you can catch its mascot in Dream Radar. I assume that's per 3DS, not per save file on the 4th gen game? My brother got a copy of SoulSilver and I want to use it to get a Lugia, but I don't want to do it if it means that save file can never be used for that afterward.
