Is there any way to get less than 1000 points in Wii Shop Channel? My son loves Mega Man and I've played through every single one available on WiiU for him (except the zero series which he doesn't like and the mmbn which would be too slow and wordy). Then I realized I had Mega Man 9 on the Wii side and played that. So I got Mega Man 10 which was 1000 points. Now I want to get the DLC which together is 800 points. So am I just flat out of luck and will have 200 Wii Shop points to the end of time?

I even got to play Mega Man 8 for him thanks to the free demake.

Does Nintendo tend to do sales in the US that they've previously done in Japan? I'd be cool with waiting for the half off Fire Emblem Fates alternate paths like they're doing in Japan to come to the US if there's any chance that would happen.

Generally speaking, no. Europe follows them occasionally but NOA usually does their own thing.

Japan has been getting a lot more discounts lately as promotion for the new account/rewards system and their new blog.

I'd compare it to Eks Vs Sever on the GBA: a mediocre fps that garnered attention for being on an underpowered handheld system.

That's spot on. The second game is better, but they're both nothing more than impressive tech demos. Moon (Chronicles) is probably the first game where they started trying, and it's not that good, either.

An empty release week like this one often indicates an impending Direct... or it could mean absolutely nothing.

Return to Popolocrois is a crossover between a cult JRPG series that barely left Japan and the farming series formerly known as Harvest Moon that's now known as Story of Seasons in English. This game wasn't even announced for release in PAL-land until last week but we're getting it a couple weeks ahead of NA, with the tradeoff being it's digital-only.

This is the NA Dreamcast theme and I imagine (hope) the PAL version is identical:
